Your lip color is the key to perfect makeup, but nothing is more annoying than a perfectly matched lipstick color that rinses off every few hours. This article discusses the types of products to choose from and how to apply and maintain your lipstick color throughout the day.

Method 1 of 3: Choosing the Right Products

1. 1 Choose a matte formula. Not all lipsticks are created equal. Makeup artists claim that matte lipsticks are more durable, cream comes next, and liquid lip glosses wear out first.
   • You are unlikely to find a lip gloss that stays on your lips all day. The gloss formula is designed precisely to give them a glossy and smooth appearance. It can be comfortable and look gorgeous on the lips, but will need to be reapplied throughout the day.
2. 2 Get a lip primer. This product is specially formulated to prepare lips for lipstick and hold the color for as long as possible. Many companies make primers.

Method 3 of 3: Maintain Your Lip Color Throughout the Day

1. 1 Reapply after eating or drinking. Your lip color will inevitably wear off throughout the day.
