1 Find suitable plastic spoons. You may already have a collection of plastic spoons lying around in your work drawer - if so, then this is just what you need. Otherwise, you can buy plastic spoons from dollar stores, supermarkets, and street barbecues / food service centers. When making the first product, it is recommended to stick to a simple white color, since white is combined with almost any interior, and if necessary, the lampshade can be rearranged to another part of the house. But if you already liked a certain color, all spoons must be of the same tone.

• Pick spoons that are the same size, but if you know exactly how to hold together spoons of different sizes, then you can deviate from this rule. If you use spoons of different sizes, think about the model of the lampshade in advance so that in the end you do not have to make it at random.

2 Take apart the spoons. To complete this task, you only need a cup of spoon or scoop, no handle. To neatly separate the spoon's cup from the handle, place the spoon on a flat surface that's easy to cut (self-healing cutting mats are ideal). Use an Exacto knife to carefully cut the handle off the spoon. Carefully run your knife across the base of the handle, making sure to cut it as straight as possible. After a few tries, you will get your hand full - just get rid of any spoons that are uneven.

3 Pile up the spoons or place them in a cup. For convenience, you can use a large container for storing cups. And don't throw away the pens - they might come in handy later on to decorate or decorate your lampshade or lamp.

4 Prepare a lampshade or lamp cover. What kind of lampshade will you use? There are two main options: an existing lampshade that needs to be updated, or a plastic container transformed into a lamp shade. This article describes how to make a plastic container lampshade:

• Wash and dry the plastic bowl shaped like a lampshade. Typically a large plastic container will do this (see below). Do not remove the lid from the container at this time.
• Using an Exacto knife, cut out the base of the plastic container. This will be the part of the lampshade facing down. Insert the light bulb into the vessel to make sure it passes without hitting the edges. If it doesn't fit, find a larger plastic container.
• If you decide to use an existing lampshade or lamp cover, make sure it is clean. A clean surface is essential to anchor the spoons well. You can simply wipe down the lampshade with a damp cloth, but if you need to get rid of stains, a mild solution of laundry soap mixed with warm water is the way to go. Allow the lampshade to dry before starting.

5 Decide what pattern you want to see on your lampshade or lamp shade. Using the tops of the spoons, you can tie them into a bandage, create a shell-like pattern where each subsequent spoon will lightly cover the previous one while they are evenly spaced, or you can try to secure the spoons face up. For best results, simply lay out the spoons first to make sure you like the pattern, then try temporarily attaching the spoons to the lampshade itself using duct tape or office clay to hold them in place. Don't be afraid to try different patterns and directions to create interesting effects - trial attempts are made in order to play it safe and be sure that the pattern looks beautiful. For samples:

• Spread the first layer or row of spoons around the base of the container. Then place the next spoon (end first) on the first layer of the cups already fixed.
• Use a small amount of duct tape or office clay to temporarily attach each spoon to your lampshade. Attach the cups of the spoons until you have the desired pattern.

6 Hot glue the spoons to the lampshade. Once you're happy with the trial pattern, light a hot glue gun. Spray it equally over the surface of a plastic container (or an existing lampshade) to glue the cups of the spoons:

• Gently drip the glue onto the top of the spoon (closest to the handle). Press it firmly against the lampshade for a few seconds until you are sure that the spoon is stuck. If you are gluing the spoons face up, add some glue to the back of the spoon, at the point that will be attached to the vessel.
• Continue gluing the spoons until the container is completely covered with them and nothing is visible under the cups of the spoons. They should be evenly spaced on the surface of the container. Adjustments should be made before it's too late, as once the glue dries, the cups will stay there forever.
• At this point, if you want to add some sparkle to the lamp shade, you can do so by adding showy stones, faux diamonds, and so on, carefully positioning them on the spoons. It is recommended not to overdo it!

7 Make a ring of spoons in the tapering area of ​​the vessel. To cover the tapering area of ​​the vessel where the electrical cord will be located, make a ring of spoons around this area. That is, you have to add glue to the inside of each spoon and stick them together until you get a neat ring. It is not necessary to make this ring as tight as the tapering region of the vessel itself; it is only needed to cover the tapering area of ​​the vessel from those who look at the lamp from below.

• If you are using an existing lamp cover, the ring may not be needed. When deciding, start from the shape of the lampshade.

8 If necessary, insert electrical components through the tapering region of the vessel. It would be advisable to leave the lid of the container and make a hole in it so that it supports the electrical cord so that it does not move. Will this advice be useful to you? It depends on the size of the tapering region of the vessel, the length of the cord, and so on. When deciding, start from the size and stability of specific materials.

9 Hang the lamp cover or attach it to the lamp base. Turn on the light and enjoy the setting as the light shines through the spoons.

Tips

• If you want everything to be white, make sure that all the wires and switches (and possibly the lamp base) match the color. Black, gray or white are best.
• Make sure the spoons are completely dry and adhered before turning on the lamp.
• You can use different colored plastic spoons to create a vibrant pattern. You can buy spoons in a variety of colors at the Party Supplies store.

Warnings

• It is recommended that you turn off the lamp when no one is in the room to reduce the risk of fire.
• Do not use bulbs with a higher wattage than that indicated on the lamp. Exceeding the wattage can generate enough heat and this can cause the spoons to melt or even cause a fire.
• Beware of plastic chips when cutting spoons - they are usually easy to cut, but it is still best to be careful. Observe the same precautions as when working with a knife; it would be good to take care of the protection of the eyes and hands.
• Incandescent light bulbs generate a lot of heat which melts the plastic - fluorescent lights are best.
