Microwave rice cookers were introduced several years ago and are a serious competitor to electric rice cookers. Why not? The rice will turn out to be airy and will never burn. You can also reheat previously cooked rice and steam vegetables.

Steps

  1. 1 Make sure the rice cooker is clean. You can rinse it off with warm water and then blot dry.
  2. 2 Pour a glass of rice into a bowl. Now fill the rice cooker halfway with water. Stir to rinse all the rice.
  3. 3 Then drain the water, being careful not to empty the rice.
  4. 4 Add 1 1/2 cups water to the bowl. Close the cover, first the inner and then the outer. Also close the side latches.
  5. 5 Place the rice cooker in the microwave. Cook at full power for 12-15 minutes. The time depends on your microwave, so be careful the first time.
  6. 6 Remove the rice cooker from the microwave. Sometimes a little water is poured into the bottom of the microwave oven. In such cases, wipe it off with a paper towel. Wait 5 minutes.
  7. 7 Remove the lid and beat the rice with a wooden spoon or rice spatula. One cup of uncooked rice makes 3 cups of finished rice.

Tips

  • Most microwave rice cookers cannot cook more than 3 cups of raw rice.
  • Do not overfill with water. Better less than too much.
  • If you add one teaspoon of vinegar, the rice will be more fluffy.

Warnings

  • Store cooled rice in the refrigerator. To reheat it, microwave it, covered with a lid, with a few tablespoons of water for 1 minute.
  • This only applies to white rice. Cook 1 cup long grain brown rice in 2 1/2 cups water for 30 minutes at 100% power.
