A septum piercing, like any other piercing, needs to be cleaned periodically, otherwise inflammation can begin, fraught with big problems for your health.

Steps

1. 1 You need to clean the septum twice a day. To do this, take a cotton swab, soak it in salt water or saline solution, and treat the wound. In this case, the earring must be slightly raised - only then you will be sure that the solution has got into the wound.If the earring sits tightly, stir it up anyway, since bacteria will actively begin to multiply under the formed crust, and this will lead to infection.
   • Pull the septum down as you clean the wound.
   • Do not peel off the crust with your fingernails, as you can infect the wound and cause scarring.
   • For the first weeks, do not twist the ring, do not play with it. While cleaning, grasp the earring carefully, do not try to move it too much.
2. 2 When you rinse the wound, dry it thoroughly. This can be done with a soft paper towel (do not rub, just lightly touch). Do not use a towel - it may contain bacteria.
3. 3 Use lavender essential oil to speed up wound healing. Every time you clean the hole, add 1-2 drops of oil into it. Wipe off excess with a napkin. You should not take too much oil, as it can irritate the skin.
4. 4 Leave the earring on for the first 8-10 weeks. Also, avoid wearing a blindfold for sleeping.

Tips

• Do not use rubbing alcohol on your piercing.
• Be very careful when you take out the earring for the first time. If you are afraid - go to the salon, let them show you how to do it right.
• Don't wear a silver earring for at least the first few months. Silver can cause an allergic reaction and leave a black mark on the skin (due to oxidation).
