Next-generation game consoles use a variety of ways to improve your gaming experience: graphics improve, games become more complex, and add-ons add interest to games you've already played. There are many types of game add-ons that Xbox One players can use, including subscriptions, game content, prepaid cards, but you'll often need to redeem codes to access them.

Steps

1. 1 Sign in to Xbox Live. Turn on your box and sign in with the appropriate Xbox Live account.
2. 2 Go to the Games & Applications menu. From the home page, move your cursor to Games & Apps and press A to select. You will see several options.
3. 3 Select “Redeem Code”. Move your cursor to “Redeem Code” and press A to select. Again, you will see several options.
4. 4 Select “enter code manually”. One of the options that appears after selecting “Redeem Code” is “Enter 25-digit code”. Select this option by pressing A.
5. 5 Enter a code. Enter your code using the virtual keyboard that appears as you type.
6. 6 Confirm the code. After you enter the code, you will see a message that will notify you of the type of activation code that you entered. Select “Confirm” by pressing A.

Method 1 of 2: Using a QR Code with a Kinect Sensor

1. 1 Sign in to Xbox Live. Turn on your box and sign in with the appropriate Xbox Live account.
2. 2 Tell Xbox to redeem your code. From within range of the Kinect sensor, say “Xbox, use a code”. The screen will automatically change to the QR code scan screen.
3. 3 Scan the QR code. Show the QR code to the Kinect sensor and it will automatically scan your code.
4. 4 Verify your code. After you enter the code, you will see a message that will notify you of the type of activation code that you entered. Select “Confirm” by pressing A.

Method 2 of 2: Redeem a code on a computer

1. 1 Sign in to your Microsoft account. Go to http://live.xbox.com/redeemtoken and enter your email address and password.
2. 2 Enter the 25-digit code. Enter in the required fields and then click “Redeem Code”.
3. 3 Log in to your console. You will see that the code has been automatically applied to your account.

Tips

• The Kinect sensor is the fastest way to redeem your code, and it can be completed in seconds.
• If an error occurs with the words: “Please enter a valid code,” then you are entering an incorrect Xbox code. Remember that Xbox codes are 25 characters long, divided into 5 parts of 5 characters each.
