This wikiHow teaches you how to copy pictures from one place and paste them elsewhere on your Windows / Mac computer, as well as on an iPhone, iPad or Android mobile device. Not all images online can be copied. Using another person's image without their permission may violate copyright laws.

Steps

Method 1 of 4: On Windows

1. 

   Select the picture you want to copy:
   • Picture: On most Windows apps, you can select the picture you want to copy by clicking it.
   • Image file: Click the photo file on the computer you want to copy to paste.
   • You can select multiple files by holding down the key Ctrl and click on the photo you want to select.

   Right-click on the mouse or trackpad. If you are using the trackpad, depending on your computer's settings, you can right-click by pressing two fingers on the trackpad or tapping one finger on the right side of the trackpad.

   Click Copy or Copy Image (Copy pictures). The photo or file will be copied to the clipboard of the computer.
   • Or you can press Ctrl+C. On many apps, you can also click Edit (Edit) on the menu bar and select Copy.

   Right-click the document or data field where you want to insert the picture.
   • For the file, click the folder to which you want to copy the pictures.

   Click Paste (Paste). The picture will be inserted into the document or data field at the position of the mouse cursor.
   • Or press Ctrl+V. On many apps, you can also click Edit in the menu bar then select Paste.

Method 2 of 4: On a Mac

   Select the data you need to copy:
   • Picture: On most Mac apps, you can select the photo you want to copy by clicking on it.
   • Image file: Select the files on the computer you want to copy for pasting, or you can select multiple files by holding down the ⌘ key to select a group of multiple files.

   Click Edit in the menu bar.

   Click Copy. The photo or file will be copied to the clipboard on your computer.
   • Or you can press⌘+C. You can also right-click on the mouse or trackpad. If your Mac doesn't have a right mouse button, press Control click at the same time, then select Copy in the pop-up menu.

   Click the document or data field in which you want to insert the picture.
   • For the file, click the folder to which you want to copy the data.

   Click Edit in the menu bar.

   Click Paste. The picture will be inserted into the document or data field at the position of the mouse pointer.
   • Or press ⌘+V. You can also right-click on the mouse or trackpad. If your Mac doesn't have a right mouse button, press Control click, then select Paste in the pop-up menu.

Method 3 of 4: On an iPhone or iPad

1. 

   Select the picture you want to copy. To do this, long press on the photo until a menu appears.

2. 

   Click Copy. The photo will be copied to the clipboard on the device.

3. 

   Long press on a document or data field where you want to insert the picture.
   • If the location where you want to insert the picture is in a different application than the one where you are copying data from, you need to open the other application.

   Click Paste. The picture will be inserted into the document or data field at the position of the mouse pointer. advertisement

Method 4 of 4: On Android

1. 

   Select the picture you want to copy. To do this, long press on the photo until a menu appears.

2. 

   Click Copy. The photo will be copied to the clipboard on the device.

3. 

   Long press on a document or data field where you want to insert the picture.
   • If the place where you want to insert the picture is a different application from the one where you are copying data, open the other application.

4.
