Having a swag isn't about having a perfect wardrobe. It's about the right attitude and the right mindset. Sure, a pair of cool sneakers or great sunglasses can serve you, but having swag is all about an attitude that makes everything you do, say, and wear look cool. If you want to have swag, you have to adjust your mindset. Afterwards can upgrade your wardrobe. If you want to know how to have swag, follow these steps.

Method 1 of 3: Adjust your posture

1. Proudly show what you have in store. Swagger is all about confidence. If you've bought a new item of clothing or are trying out a new haircut, people will be able to see it if you think you look ridiculous. If you don't have confidence in your own appearance and doubt your style or speech, people around you will start to doubt you too.
   • Whatever you do, do it right. Don't seek the approval of others, don't ask people if it's "okay" to watch that movie you wanted to see, or if you want to go into that one clothing store.
   • Don't ask your friends if your new sneakers are ridiculous, don't stand in front of the mirror all the time to check yourself out. Look in the mirror, know you look good, and keep walking.
   • Stand upright, walk with your head held high and shoulders back. Look forward, not down. This way you show people that you are happy with who you are and that you are proud to fill a space.
2. Make it personal. Having a swag is not about copying certain trends or mimicking your favorite rappers. By the way, it's okay if your role models and friends can influence your clothes, your mannerisms, and your language, but don't let them control your style. Find out what makes you unique, what your own brand is. Here are some ways to personalize your swag:
   • Maybe you like to dress a bit chic, but you also like to put in braids.
   • Maybe you are the only boy at school who looks cool with fluorescent green sneakers.
   • Maybe you put your thumbs up and give it a wink. Perhaps that is so boring with you that it will be cool again.
   • Maybe you're the guy who's always smiling, it doesn't matter why.
3. Don't be a hater. You may think that having swag means being so cool that you are surrounded by puny subjects fighting for your attention - that you constantly have to make them feel like they're not good enough to prove how cool you are. Well, on the contrary. To have swag you have to be cool with everyone.
   • This doesn't mean you have to become best friends with everyone. You also don't have to spend hours talking to others, or complimenting everyone you see. It simply means that people would like to hang out with you because you are not ruled by hatred, jealousy, and bitterness.
   • You may think that putting others down will elevate you. It's not like that. It just shows how insecure you are.
   • If people around you hate, then speak to them about it. Or look for new friends.
4. Hang out with people who make you want to be better. This does not mean that you should only hang out with the hip, popular kids at school, because you will become more popular yourself. It involves doing your best to interact with other people who have swag. After all, they know what it means to have real swag, and will pull you up to their level. That's how you learn how to behave, how to dress, and so on. You don't have to do anything else for that, just interact with people like that.
   • If you're hanging out with people you would describe as "ballast" simply because you're too nice, or if you've been friends for a long time but have little else to offer, it may be time to throw them overboard.
   • If you know people with swag, but not that good yet, take it easy. Don't sit on their lips from one day to the next. If you do, they will start to think you are one of their lackeys.
5. Draw inspiration from your role models. Pick a few people you look up to, and let them guide you on your path to swag. They don't necessarily have to be the coolest people in the world, but they should be able to inspire you. Whether it's chasing your dreams, how to upgrade your style, or even how to fix your lack of patience. Here are some examples of possible sources of inspiration:
   • Someone in your family. Would you like to have your mom's sense of humor, or know how your grandmother makes everyone feel better all the time? Maybe you look up to your brother's work ethic. Do what you can to develop these qualities.
   • Your favorite musician. Are you a fan of Lady Gaga, Kanye West, or Michael Bublé? Or are you more of the older generation, Otis Redding, Mick Jagger? Whoever your favorite artist is, you can learn from him / her, and not only in the musical field. You can learn how to be more independent, how to have more fun, or how to walk with more style.
   • Your favorite athlete. What can you learn from Lionel Messi, Serena Williams, or LeBron James that you can't in school? Keep an eye on these athletes both on and off the lines, try to find something you admire about them.
   • Your favorite famous person. Do you admire Obama, Mark Rutte, Femke Halsema? Or some more eccentric people like Hans Teeuwen, or Barbie from Oh, Oh Cherso? Whoever you admire, try to map out which of their traits you admire. And try to find a way in which you can develop those qualities yourself.
   • Someone in your social circles. In your own social circle, look for someone who can teach you a thing or two about life.
6. Stop caring what other people think. If you really wanted to have swag then you would do what makes you happy. You shouldn't care what others think of you. Just be careful not to insult or hurt people. Wear and say what makes you happy. Don't wear and say what you think will impress the hip kids at school.
   • If you are obsessed with impressing others and constantly try to please others, you will never win their respect.
   • If someone makes fun of your clothes or something that you do, don't let that put you off. If you ignore a certain outfit because someone has said something about it, then you give in. Better to keep wearing it, only now even more proud.
   • It's okay to ask people for advice or their opinion. It's not okay to keep asking for approval and praise for everything you do or will do.
7. Be independent. People with real swag are just as comfortable in their own skin as they are when they hang out with a group of friends. If you want to have swag then you should try to be independent. Try to be happy with your own things. You don't always have to do what others do, especially if you just do it to fit in. To be independent you need to develop your own interests, goals, and dreams.
   • It is not bad at all to spend a lot of time with your friends. Just don't try to spend all your free time on the social scene. It's important to also spend time alone to develop your interests. Whether this is sports, reading, or writing songs.
   • Part of being independent is the ability to think independently. Don't be afraid to have your own ideas and beliefs. You don't always have to agree with your friends. Certainly not if you only agree with them to avoid arguments.
   • If your friends ask you to hang out but you'd rather do your own thing, just let them know. They will respect you even more if they know that you have your own goals and that you want to work on them.

Method 2 of 3: Looking swag as a boy

1. Get the right body language. The most important thing is to always keep your head elevated and never look at the floor. Unless you want to look insecure and lost, of course. If you want to practice the "swag walk", you can spread your legs apart and bend your feet out a little while walking. This way you ensure that extra "bounce" in your run. Keep your arms at your sides or use them to gesticulate while talking. Do not cross them or you will look insecure.
   • Don't be afraid to smile. Smiling doesn't mean you're uncool.
   • When talking to people, make eye contact. Don't give the impression that you have better things to do. Really pay attention to the one in front of you.
2. Wear the right clothes. For boys, clothes are less important than accessories. Make sure you are wearing a shirt with a bit of roominess, a hoodie, or whatever top you want. It's about feeling good and looking good. As for the pants, you can put on sports pants, wide jeans, or baggy shorts.
   • You may want to let your pants hang a little lower because you think that will give you swag. However, many girls get away from this. The choice is yours.

Method 3 of 3: Look like a swag girl

1. Get the right body language. To have swag as a girl, you have to be proud of your own body. Make sure everyone can see that. Keep your shoulders back, your chest out, and your head lifted. Try not to slouch, stand tall. Smile at people and make eye contact. Don't be afraid to touch people lightly when you are talking.
   • When you walk into a space, don't hesitate. Give the impression that you know where you are going, even if you don't.
   • Don't fiddle with your jewelry, rides, or hands. If you do, you will appear insecure.
2. Wear tops that have swag. If you look good, you can wear any top to look cool. Whether you're going for a sleek or a baggy look, wear it like you're serious. Whether you're wearing a camisole, a shirt with a logo, a halter top, or a belly button top. Try some of these tops to boost your swag level.
   • Hoodies. Wear a hoodie with your favorite team's logo. For a retro look you can opt for a hoodie with the logo of your school. That's so clumsy it's cool again.

3. Wear swagger (shorts). With the right attitude, any kind of pants can take your outfit to the next level. From basketball shorts to cargo pants, you can look great in everything. If you're wearing tight pants, opt for a slightly wider top. If you're wearing wide pants, opt for a tighter top. For example, choose from:
   • Harem pants, baggy basketball pants, shorts
   • Baggy sweatpants, sports pants
   • Skinny jeans, leggings, or leggings
   • Something with an animal print, or bright, flashy pants
4. Wear the right shoes. If you want to have swag as a girl, you can go for a trendy, sporty look, but also for something more feminine. You can choose to make your shoes the most important part of your outfit, but you can also give them a minor role. Here are some footwear you can experiment with:

6. Wear stylish make-up and have a ditto hairstyle. To have real swag, you don't have to wear five coats of make-up or adopt Rihanna's latest hairstyle. Do your own thing, and put more emphasis on your looks. This is what you can do:
   • Wear as much make-up as you like. If you like makeup, fine. If you don't like it, that's fine too.
   • Use a soft lipstick or a lip gloss.
   • Apply dark eyeliner and eyeshadow to create smoky eyes.
   • Change your hairstyle every now and then. Paint it a separate color, such as purple or green. Or go short and spiky, like Miley Cyrus. Or let your hair grow for a very long time.

• Have fun, don't be afraid to be yourself. If you like something that has nothing to do with swag, show it!
• Shoes like Jordan's or LeBron's may be high, but they certainly give you swag.
