Keeping your bathroom cabinets neat and well organized can be quite a challenge. And since it is important to start the day well, it is nice if you know exactly where everything is. Fortunately, with a few simple tips, you can keep the clutter in your bathroom cabinets under control so that your things are easy to grab.

Part 1 of 2: Cleaning up the mess

1. Get everything out of your cupboards and the sink. Put it in a big pile. Then you have an idea of ​​the amount of stuff you have in your cupboards.

2. Throw away or give away old items. Immediately dispose of any old, unused, or spoiled items in a garbage bag. 4. Buy clear storage bins that fit in your cupboards. Measure the space in the cupboards, and think about how much space the things will take up in the bins.    • You can also check first if you have any containers that you can use in the bathroom cabinets, such as magazine boxes, metal drums or buckets that contain yogurt.

   Fill each container with items from the same category. For things that you need to be able to grab quickly, transparent bins are the most useful. Use containers with lids for small items that are prone to mess. Open bins are best used for things like toothbrushes (they don't have to be transparent.

   • At the Hema or Blokker, for example, you have all kinds of transparent containers.
   • Preferably use plastic containers. Glass is also possible, but only use it for things you don't need when you are in a hurry, because they can break.
5. Label each bin based on the category. When you start distributing your products, you need to put labels on the bins to keep everything apart. Self-adhesive labels work best on hard plastic, metal or glass.

Part 2 of 2: Making good use of the space

1. Remove the drawers from your cupboards for easy access to your toiletries. If you have modern chests of drawers in your bathroom, you can take the fronts off to get open shelves. Now you can fill the space with baskets or bins, making it easier to access your things. Put labels on your containers to help you find everything.
   • Buy labels and write on each box the category it contains, such as "Hair Care", "Bath and Shower" or "Scrubs and Sponges".
2. Install pull-out wire baskets under the sink. Buy a cupboard with two pull-out wire baskets at the hardware store. The place under the sink often becomes a mess, but if you install pull-out wire baskets underneath you can make the most of the space.
   • Try to find one with a narrower basket at the top so it fits in front of the drain pipe.
   • A wider basket at the bottom is ideal because you can put all the larger items such as hair brushes, the hair dryer and cleaning products in there.
   • Stick some LED strips on so that you can illuminate every corner.
3. Hang a magnetic knife strip and small containers on the inside of a door. A knife strip can be very useful for hanging all your hair clips and metal nail files and pliers. Also stick some storage trays on the other side of the door, so you can put small items such as make-up and nail polish in there.
   • Be careful when hanging scissors and other sharp objects from the knife strip, especially when opening the door.
4. Place smaller items on a dip dish. Place dishes in the drawers next to, for example, your towels or other small items. This is an easy and inexpensive way to keep your lotions, lip balms and other small essentials tidy - even if you only put one per drawer.
   • Line the bottom of the drawer if you want to make it look a bit nicer. For example, cupboard paper with a herringbone pattern looks great with a white bowl. Experiment with different types of colors and combinations.
5. Place a rotating shelf in deep cupboards for easier access to your belongings. Place some glass jars on the platform and write what is in them. Cotton swabs, bath salts, tissues and other products that come in large packages are ideal for putting in jars.
   • Cut the labels from a sticker sheet and write the categories on it.
6. Hide utensils in wicker baskets to make it look nicer. While these bins are suitable for all products, they are ideal for items you don't want to have in sight, such as your toilet paper supply. You can label them by tying a label with a string.
7. Install an extra curtain rod for your towels. Hang it under the normal curtain rod, leaving about 5 to 10 cm between the two rods. Then there are no wet towels lying around in your bathroom.
   • Hang the rod behind the curtain so that your wet towels can drip into the bath or shower cubicle.
