Installing the official Android File Transfer app on your Mac computer allows you to connect your Android device and transfer files between devices. By connecting your Android to your Mac device, you can view files stored on Android in exactly the same way as you do with files and folders on a Mac. You can also transfer music files from iTunes library to Android.

Steps

Part 1 of 3: Installing Android File Transfer

1. 1 Click the appropriate icon to launch the Safari browser on your Mac.
2. 2 Go to the site android.com/filetransfer/.
3. 3 Click the Download Now button.
4. 4 Click on the androidfiletransfer.dmg file that appeared in Downloads.
5. 5 Drag Android File Transfer to the Applications folder.

Part 2 of 3: Transferring Files

1. 1 Connect your Android device to your Mac using a USB cable.
2. 2 Unlock your Android screen. The screen must be unlocked in order for you to have access to the files.
3. 3 Swipe down to open the Android notification panel.
4. 4 Click on the USB icon in the notification bar.
5. 5 Click "File transfer" or "MTP".
6. 6 Click on the Go menu and select Applications.
7. 7 Double click on "Android File Transfer". Android File Transfer may start automatically when the Android device is connected.
8. 8 Click and drag files to transfer them. When the program displays the contents of your Android device, you can view and move any files, just like you do with any other folders on your computer. However, remember that the size of files that can be moved between Android and Mac devices is limited to 4GB.

Part 3 of 3: Add Music from iTunes to Android

1. 1 Click the iTunes icon on your Mac. It can be found in the Doc panel.
2. 2 Right click on the song you want to transfer to your device. If you do not have a right button on the mouse, then just click on the songs while holding the key Ctrl.
3. 3 Select Show in Finder.
4. 4 Highlight all the music files you want to copy. You can select not only files, but entire folders as well.
5. 5 Move the selected files to the Android File Transfer window.
6. 6 Drop the selected files on the "Music" folder.
7. 7 Wait for the files to be copied.
8. 8 Disconnect your Android device.
9. 9 Tap on the Music app on your Android device. Generally speaking, the name of this app may be different on different Android devices.
10. 10 Click on a music file to play it.
