This wikiHow teaches you how to put one of your Snapchat friends on your Best Friends list. That's the list of the six people you interact with most.

Part 1 of 3: Adding a friend

1. Understand how the Best Friends list works. To become best friends on Snapchat, you have to interact with them more than you do with most other friends.
   • Your friend should also communicate with you in the same way if he wants you on his best friends list.
   • You can have up to six best friends.
2. Open Snapchat Tap your profile icon. This is located in the top left corner of the screen. This will open your profile page.
3. Tap on Add friends. This option is in the middle of the page.
   • If you are physically close to your friend and they have Snapchat open, you can instead have them scan your snapcode that appears at the top of your profile page.
4. Tap the search bar. It's at the very top of the screen. Your phone keypad appears.
5. Type your friend's username. This will search the Snapchat database for them. You should see your friend's username appear in the middle of the page.
6. Tap on ＋ Add. It's next to your friend's username. This will add them to your Snapchat friends list.
7. Ask them to rejoin you. Once your friend has added you to their friends list, you can continue sending snaps.

Part 2 of 3: Sending snaps to your friend

1. Return to the camera page. If you haven't already done so, tap the "Back" button in the top left corner of the screen to return to your profile page, then tap X to close your profile page.
2. Take a picture. Point the camera at something you want to send, then tap the round "Capture" button.
   • To take a video, tap and hold the "Capture" button until you're done recording. Then release the button.
3. Tap the "Send" icon. It's a blue and white arrow in the bottom right corner of the screen. This will take you to the friends list.
   • You can add effects to your snap before sending it if you want.
4. Select your friend. Tap your friend's name to select them as the recipient of your photo.
   • Don't send snaps to other people for now, as your primary goal is to get your friend on your best friends list.
5. Tap the "Send" icon. It's the blue and white arrow in the bottom right corner of the screen. This will send your snap to your friend.
   • For the snap to count towards the Best Friends List score, your friend must open your snap.
6. Send the user some more photo or video clips. If you send photo and video clips to a friend more often than to any of your other friends, the friend will quickly be added to your best friends list.
   • The more snaps you send that friend, the faster the person will get on your best friends list.
7. Make sure the person also sends photos to you. While they may end up on your best friends list because of all the snaps you send to them, they also need to commit you more than anyone else to their friends list to be mutual.

Part 3 of 3: Chat with your friend

1. Open the friends page. To do this, swipe from left to right across the camera page. You should see a list of recently featured friends here.
2. Open a chat with your friend. Find your friend's name and then swipe left to right on their name. This will open their chat page.
3. Enter a message. Type the message you want to send to your friend.
   • You can also add images from your phone's camera roll to the message by tapping the card-shaped "Photos" icon below the text box, then selecting photos.
4. Tap on Send. Doing this will send your message to your friend, after which they can access it from their Snapchat app.
   • On some Android phones, you tap instead ✓.
5. Lots of frequent conversations with your friend. The more chats sent between you, the faster you'll end up on each other's best friends list.

Tips

• The best friends list can be changed several times a day if you understand enough people.
• If a best friend has one of the emoji statuses, they'll see the same emoji by your name in their best friends list.

Warnings

• You cannot manually edit the Best Friends list.
