It can be very annoying if you want to upload an image but it doesn't work because it is not in Jpeg format. Here's how to convert to Jpeg.

To step

Method 1 of 3: On all computers

  1. Open the image you want to convert to Jpeg with any photo program.
  2. Click on the "File" menu.
  3. Click on "Save as". Do not click "Save" as it will simply be saved with the current extension.
  4. Click on the drop-down menu. Usually it says "save as type" on the left.
  5. Click Jpeg (often it says "( *. Jpg; *. Jpeg; *. Jpe; *. Jfif)" next to it.
  6. If necessary, rename the file and you're done.

Method 2 of 3: On a Mac

  1. Open the image you want to convert. Maybe it is on your desktop, like in the example. Otherwise, search in Finder.
  2. Press option and click on the name at the same time. Now you can edit the text of the file.
  3. Delete the current extension. Delete everything after the "." in the file name.
  4. Type "jpeg" after the period.
  5. Click "Use JPG" in the dialog box that now appears.
  6. Ready.

Method 3 of 3: Alternative Mac option

  1. Right click on the file you want to convert and mouse over "Open With".
  2. Click on "Preview".
  3. Click on "Archive".
  4. Click on "Export".
  5. Choose the format.
  6. If necessary, rename the image.

Tips

  • In Adobe Photoshop or similar programs, there is an option to "save for web", which does the same.

Warnings

  • Never use MS Paint to convert. The quality then becomes very low.
  • Always keep a copy of the image in its original format to be on the safe side.
