Family-minded Sims are bound to want to have kids, and you yourself will enjoy managing the increased number of characters even more. The easiest way to create a child is with two male and female characters, however, any adult Sim can have a child in the game.

Steps

Method 1 of 3: Having a baby

1. 1 Develop a relationship between male and female characters. The female character must be young or adult. In this case, the male character can be young, adult, or elderly. It is necessary to develop romantic relationships between the characters until the relationship indicator is almost full.
   • Some non-human Sims can also have children. However, children usually inherit traits from both parents. However, zombies, symbots, servos and mummies cannot have children.
2. 2 Send the characters to a place where they can have sex. The option "conceive a child" is activated only for those objects on which you can have sex. Some of these objects have an increased likelihood of conceiving a child, compared to others, or give the offspring special features. The following are the best options for conceiving:
   • A 100% chance is given by a vibrating heart-shaped bed (from the "Modern Luxury" catalog), while the child will be easily excitable;
   • 75% - regular bed;
   • 75% - sarcophagus (in the "World of Adventures" add-on);
   • 50% - hot bath (in various additions), while the child will either have hydrophobia or be a party-goer;
   • 50% - a tree house (in various additions), while the traits of the child will depend on the specific house.
3. 3 Create a mood for your Sims. Sims should have a romantic chat near the object chosen in the previous step. As the characters communicate, watch the contextual messages change. If the communication goes well, then the second sim will start to think that the character you control is flirting, then he will seem charming, and then irresistible. You will need to wait until stage 3 to be able to conceive.
   • The process does not depend on whether you are controlling a male or female character.
4. 4 Try to conceive a child. After the transition of romantic communication to the third stage, select the "Conceive a child" option in the "Romance" tab. A couple of lovers will move to the appropriate facility and have some good fun under the cover of the censorship built into the game.
   • You will not be able to have a child if you already control eight characters.
   • There is also some chance of getting pregnant just from the "Have sex" option, but this method cannot be considered reliable.
5. 5 Wait for signs of pregnancy to appear. If a female character starts to feel nauseous the next morning, then it can be said with almost complete certainty that the conception was successful. You will know about this by the appearance of a corresponding mark in the character's mood, and / or if the character begins to vomit.
   • Sounding a short melody right after trying to conceive is also a sign of success.
   • If the pregnancy has not occurred, just try to conceive the child again. You can make as many attempts as you like.
6. 6 Adjust your game based on your character's pregnancy. A Sim's pregnancy is much easier than a real pregnancy, as it only lasts three days! However, you need to be prepared for the following in-game changes.
   • On the second day, the pregnancy of the expectant mother will already be visible visually. Starting from the first day, she will receive several days of paid maternity leave.
   • On the third day, you need to strictly monitor the fulfillment of all the character's needs and quickly correct any negative points. If at this stage your character is not happy, then you will not have the opportunity to choose the character traits of the unborn child.
   • If during pregnancy a character eats three or more apples, then the likelihood of having a boy increases, while eating three or more watermelons increases the chance of having a girl.
7. 7 Buy everything you need for your child. Allocate space to place your baby's crib next to the parent's bed, and you will also need a changing table and baby pot. A crib and a teddy bear are essential accessories to keep your baby sleeping.
8. 8 Wait for the birth. Some Sims give birth at home, while others call a taxi on their own and go to the hospital. There is not much difference between these two types of births, but home births provide an increased starting level of the mother-child relationship.
   • Childbirth can happen very quickly or last several game hours. Make sure that the woman in labor is not disturbed by noise or a panicky husband - nothing bad will happen.

Method 2 of 3: Adopting a Child

1. 1 Start by building a stable family. You will not be able to adopt a child if social workers have already removed the child from your family before, or if you already control the maximum number of characters (eight sims). In the absence of the above circumstances, any young, adult, or senior Sim can adopt a child.
2. 2 Call the adoption agency. Use any phone, select the "Order Services" option, and then click "Adoption Agency".
   • To adopt a child, your Sim must be at home.
3. 3 Choose a child. Upon adoption, you will have the option of choosing between a boy and a girl, and you will also be able to choose the desired age of the child. Also, you yourself will give the child a name, the surname will pass to him from the sim who applied to the adoption agency.
   • The character traits of the child and his appearance will be random, but you can always correct his character with good upbringing.
4. 4 Wait for the baby to arrive at your home. Within one playing hour, the child will arrive at your home. The babies and toddlers are brought in by a social worker, and the older children ride their bicycles to the house.

Method 3 of 3: Other Methods

1. 1 Make your Sim a victim of alien abduction. Male characters young and older can be abducted by aliens, with a one in three chance that the character will become pregnant after being abducted. The child in this case will be one hundred percent alien and without family ties with the father. To arrange an alien abduction, you will need to follow the steps below.
   • Install the Seasons add-on.
   • Collect meteorites if possible. (Most of the time they appear randomly, but the Collector's Assistant will speed up the collecting process).
   • Arrange for your sim street night telescope observations of the stars. Repeat this activity every night until he is kidnapped.
   • If, after being kidnapped, the Sim begins to gain weight rapidly, as indicated by the corresponding mood icon, then he has become pregnant. Otherwise, you will have to arrange another kidnapping.
2. 2 Ask the child at the wishing well. If you purchase the Lucky Palms world from The Sims Store, you will have access to the Wishing Well. You can ask him for a child, but sometimes the child can turn out to be angry (if he appears from a black cloud).

Tips

• In additions in the game, there are certain circumstances that increase the likelihood of conception, although such circumstances are not required. For example, in the "Supernatural" add-on, a full moon gives an additional 20% to the chance of conception.
• You can increase your chances of having twins or triplets by purchasing the Fertility reward, and in numerous other ways through add-ons or purchases from the Sims Store (for example, by asking a large family from a genie in Show Business). Be careful as caring for multiple children at the same time can be problematic.

Warnings

• If the mother of the child is in a bad mood during pregnancy, then the traits of the child will be chosen at random, and it is highly likely that these traits will be negative.
• Caring for a child takes time and money. Therefore, having a child with a poor or very busy family will be a significant challenge.
• If the mother of the child dies, then the child will also die. Avoid swimming pools, fires, cheap stoves and other things that can lead to the death of your character.
