This article will show you how to scan QR codes on your Android device using a dedicated app.

Steps

1. 1 Open Play Store. Click the icon , which is located on the home screen or in the Application bar.
2. 2 Enter QR code reader in the search bar, and then click Find. A list of apps that scan QR codes will open.
   • This article is about Scan's QR Code Reader app, but you can install any other similar app. Before installing another app, read reviews about it.
   • The described steps are the same for all applications that scan QR codes.
3. 3 Tap QR Code Reader by Scan developer. The developer's name is listed below the application name. Scroll down to find the Scan app.
4. 4 Click on Install. A window will open asking you to provide access to the data of the Android device.
5. 5 Tap To accept. The application will be installed on the device.
   • When the application is installed, an Open button appears instead of the Install button, and a new icon appears in the Application Bar.
6. 6 Run the installed application. Click on the QR-code icon in the Application Bar. The QR Code Reader launches and looks like a normal camera screen.
7. 7 Point the camera at the QR code so that it is framed. Your actions are similar to taking a photo, but there is no need to press any buttons. When the scanner reads the code, a window will open with the URL that was encrypted in the code.
8. 8 Click on OKto open the website. The main web browser will launch and you will be taken to the page whose address has been encrypted in the QR code.
