Steps

1. 1 Prepare the necessary materials. (See the section "You will need" below)
2. 2 Wrap the tape around the entire circumference of your head and mark it.
3. 3 Put the tape on and measure it. Now you know the head circumference.
4. 4 Cut a strip of thick construction paper that is equal to the circumference of your head plus two inches (5cm) of extra length. You can define the width - the wider the width, the taller the hat will be.
5. 5 Use a hot glue gun to glue the ends of the construction paper together. Remember, you have two extra inches (5cm) to make the appropriate size for the head.
6. 6 Cut a square out of the cardboard that is about one foot by one foot (30cm). You can adjust this size as you like, depending on the size of the hat you want.
7. 7 Using a glue gun, glue the cardboard to the circle of construction paper to form the hat.
8. 8 Voila! You have completed the main part of your hat. Try it on or it suits you.
9. 9 Aside from all the necessary installation adjustments, now is the time to complete everything and decorate the hat the way you want. Possible options are to paint the hat black or blue, or if you are allowed to have a more festive outfit or want to personalize it, wrap the hat in wrapping paper and add bows, beads, etc. ... Let these things hang down - make rows of ribbons. Write your name in a decorative style on the front panel. Make clay sculptures. On top, you can even build structures with popsicle sticks or toothpicks. Glue small toys on it that represent you. Decorate your Papier-mâché hat! Make a collage of your life on it! You get the point - BE CREATIVE!
10. 10 Add your own brush if you like.
11. 11 Upgrade your prom hat wherever you wear it - in an actual ceremony or at a party after it!
