This article explains how to attach a number to the outside of a door. The actions are described with both screwed and glued numbers; both can be purchased at your local hardware store.

Steps

1. 1 Determine which way of attaching numbers is right for you. Choose between screwing and gluing. It is good if the method you choose matches those already used, for example, the method of attaching a doorknob and a door for mail.
2. 2 Mark the location. Of course, you can attach the number anywhere, but as a rule, it is placed in the center of the door, in the middle between the door lock and the top edge of the door.
   • It is recommended to measure the distance between the lock and the top of the door. Then measure half from the top edge of the door, define the midpoint of the resulting horizontal line, and mark it.

Method 1 of 2: Screwed numbers

1. 1 Lean the number against the door to the right of the previously marked mark and mark the screw holes with a pencil.
2. 2 Select a thin drill bit that matches the screw diameter. Clip it into the drill.
3. 3 Drill out the indentations in the locations marked for screwing in. Put the number on the door.
4. 4 Insert the screws into the drilled grooves.
5. 5 Use a screwdriver to screw the screws into the door.

Method 2 of 2: Sticking numbers

The self-adhesive door number is extremely easy to attach to the door, but be careful, it should be glued on the first try! If you make a mistake, you will have to tear off the number and paint over the place where it was.

1. 1 Make sure that the surface of the door to be sticker is clean.
2. 2 Determine the exact location of the number and mark it as described above, and you do not have to mark the places for screwing in the screws.
3. 3 Remove the tape covering the sticky surface from the number.
4. 4 Bring the number to the mark you made earlier on the door and glue it carefully.

Tips

• Observe safety precautions when drilling holes: wear safety goggles, make sure your long sleeves or hair does not get caught in the drill, remove anything that might interfere with you, and take a stable position.
