U-Verse is a service provided by AT&T. Operates as digital TV, dial-up and high-speed Internet services for home subscribers through a single gateway. The gateway acts as a modem and wireless router. Set-top boxes are essential for home television. By connecting to the U-Verse router with your laptop or other wireless device, you can enjoy the full range of U-Verse services. Start at Step 1 to find out how to access your U-Verse router to configure internet and other settings.

Steps

Method 1 of 2: Connect to a wireless network

1. 1 Find your wireless network.
   • Find the serial number on the U-Verse gateway. The number can be found on a sticker on the back of the box.
   • The last 3 digits of this serial number, combined with "2WIRE", is the name of the network. For example, if the last three digits are 888, then your wireless network will be named "2WIRE888."
2. 2 Turn on automatic network search on your device.
   • Windows Vista or 7 PC users will find this option in the Network and Sharing Center.
   • Mac users, click on the Apple logo, select "System Preferences", then click on the Network icon. Set the Network Location option to Automatic to discover the U-Verse router.
   • Check the documentation for the rest of the devices.
3. 3 Select a wireless network and enter the password. This refers to the "Wireless Network Key," which is also found on the U-Verse sticker of the gateway. The default key can be found on the bottom of your router; if you do not install an alternate key, then use the default key.

Method 2 of 2: Go to your router settings

1. 1 Launch a browser on one of the computers on your network. It is advisable to connect via the Internet cable inserted into one of the inputs on the router.
2. 2 Write "192.168.1.254" in the address bar and press Enter.
   • If you need a password, use the network key found on the U-Verse sticker of your router.
3. 3 Take a look at the available settings.
   • You will be presented with the "System" page, which displays the details of "Network at a Glance".
   • You can look at the download and upload speed of your modem under the "Broadband Link" section.
   • All computers connected to the network will be displayed under the "Home Network" link.

Tips

• Internet Explorer is the recommended browser for viewing the U-Verse router administration page. Mac users can use built-in Safari.

Warnings

• Changes to the U-Verse router settings should only be performed by experienced network administrators or AT&T technicians.
