Connecting your Dish Network receiver to broadband internet will allow you to access thousands of movies and TV shows on your TV and mobile devices. Connect the high speed link to your Dish Network receiver via Wi-Fi, Ethernet cable, or Dish Network tuner.

Steps

Method 1 of 6: Via built-in Wi-Fi adapter

1. 1 Turn on the Wi-Fi adapter and TV.
2. 2 Press the Menu button on the Dish Network remote and select Settings.
3. 3 Select “Network Setup” and then “Broadband”.
4. 4 Select Wireless Setup> Wizard. The screen will display a list of available wireless networks.
5. 5 Highlight your wireless network name and click Next.
6. 6 In the Encryption Setup window that appears, enter your wireless password. If your Wi-Fi network is not password protected, the pop-up window will not appear.
7. 7 Select “Done”. The Dish Network receiver will now be connected to the broadband network over the wireless network.

Method 2 of 6: Via a wireless adapter

1. 1 Connect the Wi-Fi adapter to the Dish Network receiver. Connect it to a port located between the HDMI and Ethernet ports. Currently, the Netgear WNDA3100v2 is the only Wi-Fi adapter that can work on the Dish Network.
2. 2 Select "Wizard" when the "Attention" dialog box appears. The screen will display a list of available wireless networks.
3. 3 Highlight your wireless network name and click Next.
4. 4 In the Encryption Setup window that appears, enter your wireless password. If your Wi-Fi network is not password protected, the pop-up window will not appear.
5. 5 Select “Done”. The Dish Network receiver will now be connected to your broadband wireless network.

Method 3 of 6: Ethernet

1. 1 Make sure your internet router is turned on.
2. 2 Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on the Dish Network receiver.
3. 3 Plug the other end of the cable into your internet router. The Dish Network receiver will now be connected to the broadband network via an Ethernet connection.

Method 4 of 6: Connecting a tuner

1. 1 Connect the Dish Network tuner to the internet. The tuner is a digital video recorder for the Dish Network.
2. 2 Turn on the TV and press the Menu button on the Dish Network remote.
3. 3 Select “Settings” and then “Network Setup”.
4. 4 Select Broadband> Network Details.
5. 5 Select Bridging and then Enable.
6. 6 Select "Save". The Dish Network receiver will now be connected to the broadband network through the tuner.

Method 5 of 6: Connect to the Internet with a tuner

1. 1 Connect your internet router to the Ethernet port on the tuner using a network cable.
2. 2 Connect the coaxial cable to the “Pass Thru” port on the tuner.
3. 3 Connect the other end of the coaxial cable to the “Sat In” port on Joey. Joey is a Dish Network receiver that connects to the main channel and tuner to access DVR on other TVs and devices in the house.
4. 4 Insert another coaxial cable into the “HVN” port on the back of the tuner.
5. 5 Connect the other end of the coaxial cable to the appropriate jack in your home. The Dish Network receiver will now be connected to the broadband network through the tuner.

Method 6 of 6: Troubleshooting

1. 1 Unplug the receiver for 10 seconds if you cannot connect to the internet. This will restart the receiver and help troubleshoot possible connection problems.
   • Wait five minutes before trying to connect to the Internet over the Dish Network again.It takes five minutes for the receiver to completely restart.
2. 2 Unplug your internet router from the power source for 10 seconds if you cannot connect to the internet. Resetting your internet connection will help resolve possible connection problems.
3. 3 Try using a different network cable if you are unable to connect to the Internet via Ethernet or a tuner. A faulty Ethernet cable can interfere with your internet connection.
4. 4 Make sure the DSL LED and Internet LED on your router are green. If the lights are red, or not at all, contact your ISP to troubleshoot connection problems.
