- There is an alternative way. Put a bowl of white vinegar in the microwave without turning it on, and leave the vinegar there until the smell disappears. Then just wash the microwave with soap and water.
- Another alternative is to wash the inside of the microwave with soap and water, then dry with a cloth dampened with water and white vinegar.
Method 2 of 6: Lemon Juice
1 Place 5 teaspoons (25 ml) of lemon juice and water in a microwave-safe dish and turn the oven on at full power for 6 minutes. Leave the bowl in the microwave for an hour. Wipe the inside of the microwave from the lemon juice and wash them with soap and water.
- Alternatively, place a couple of lemon slices in a cup with a little water and turn the microwave on for 5 minutes at full power. Wipe down and wash the microwave.
Method 3 of 6: Vanilla
1 Place 4 teaspoons (20 ml) vanilla in a bowl of water and microwave until it boils. Let it evaporate for half an hour, then wipe and wash the inside of the oven.
Method 4 of 6: baking soda
1 . Place 4 teaspoons (20 ml) of baking soda in a bowl of water. Heat at full power for 6 minutes and leave the bowl there for an hour. Wipe down the inside and then wash the microwave with soap and water.
- You can also soak a cloth in a solution of baking soda and water. Wash the microwave by rubbing with a cloth in a circular motion.
Method 5 of 6: Cloves
1 Wash the inside of the microwave and the platform with soap and water. Microwave 1/4 cup (57 grams) whole cloves until next time you use them.
Method 6 of 6: Berries
1 Place a bowl of berries in a microwave safe bowl.
2 Cover with cling film.
3 Place in the microwave and heat for 1-2 minutes.
4 Remove when ready. The berries will soften, but a pleasant smell will spread through the house, and you will get rid of the bad ones.
Tips
- Allow the microwave to dry after cleaning before closing the door.
Warnings
- Never place metal objects in a switched on microwave oven, as this may cause a fire.
- When the water has boiled, leave it in the microwave for at least 10 minutes to avoid scalding yourself when you take it out.
