This article shows you how to remove app icons from Android phone's home screen. With most Android phones, you can remove individual app icons from the home screen. You can also turn off the function of automatically adding icons to the home screen to prevent unwanted icons from appearing in the future.
Steps
Method 1 of 5: On Android devices

Touch ☰ in the upper left corner of the screen to open a selection list.
Scroll down and select Settings (Settings) is near below the drop-down menu to open the Settings page.
Uncheck the box "Add icon to Home screen". This option is in the "General" setting group; deselecting this box ensures that the new application's icon will not be added to the home screen. advertisement
Advice
- If you use a home screen launcher that is different from your phone / tablet's default, you will have to turn off the launcher before you can move or hide the app icons.
Warning
- Removing the app icon is not possible on some versions of Android OS.
