This article shows you how to download YouTube videos to watch on iPad. Using a third-party app to download a video violates the terms of the YouTube user agreement and also violates copyright laws, so most apps with this functionality are removed from the App Store.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Use YouTube Red
Open YouTube. The app has a white icon with a red rectangle surrounding a white triangle.
Click on the Google profile picture. The photo is in the upper right corner of the screen.- If you're not logged in, click the red and white slide show in the upper right corner of the screen, then click SIGN IN (LOG IN) and type in Google username and password.
ClickGet YouTube Red (Get YouTube Red). The button is at the top of the menu.- YouTube Red is a paid subscription service that allows you to download videos for viewing on your device without violating the YouTube user agreement.
- Live streaming is a way of watching video without having a live copy - like watching TV - but requiring an Internet connection. Stream copyright protection for video creators.
- The downloaded video takes up memory on the iPad but can be viewed without an Internet connection. If you do not purchase or record a video yourself, or ask for permission from the author, owning a video copy may violate copyright laws. Downloading videos from YouTube is, in most cases, a violation of the YouTube user agreement.
Click TRY IT FREE (TRY FREE). The button is on the right side of the screen.- 30-day trial version available for initial membership.
- You can cancel in the YouTube Settings menu.
Enter password. Enter the password associated with the Apple ID to confirm purchase.
Click Okay.
Click the "search" icon. The icon is a magnifying glass in the upper right corner of the screen.
Enter search keywords. Use the search bar at the top of the screen to type a video title or description.
Click ⋮. The button is located next to the video title you want to download.
Click Save offline (Save offline). The button is in the middle of the menu.
Choose quality. Depending on the original video quality, you can choose the quality for the downloaded video.
- Higher quality videos take up more memory on the iPad.
Click OK. This step downloads the video to iPad memory.
Click Thư viện (Library). This is an icon with a folder image at the bottom of the screen.
Click Offline videos (Offline video). The button is in the left pane of the screen, under "Available offline".
- The downloaded video will appear in the right frame.
- Click the video to start playing.
Method 2 of 2: Use Documents 5
Open App Store. The app is blue with a white "A" inside the circle.
Search for Documents 5. In App StoreClick the magnifying glass icon at the bottom, then start typing "Documents 5" into the text box at the top of the screen.
Click Documents 5. The item appears below the text frame.
Click Get (Take). The button is on the right side of the Documents 5 app.
- After a while, the button will change to Install (Setting); Click to install the app on the device.
Press the Home button. The button has a circular shape on the front of the iPad.
Open YouTube. The white app consists of a red rectangle around a white triangle.
Search for videos. Use the search bar at the top of the screen to enter a video title or description.
Click on the video. Select the video you want to download.
Click the Share button. The button has an upward and right curved arrow, located below the video frame.
Click Copy Link (Copy path). The button is at the bottom of the menu.
Press the Home button. The button has a circular shape on the front of the iPad.
Open Documents 5. The application is white with text D Brown.
Click Browser (Browser). The button is in the upper left corner of the screen.
Visit SaveFrom.net. Type "savefrom.net" in the search bar at the top of your browser and click Return ' (Come back).
Click and hold Just Insert a Link (Insert path). The button is just below the search bar.
Click Paste (Paste). Operation to insert a YouTube link into a text frame.
Click>. The button is blue to the right of the path you entered.
Choose video quality. Click the text to the right of the blue "Download" button that appears below the path you entered. To open the menu of available video formats and quality. Click the quality to choose.
- MP4 is the popular format best suited for iPads.
Click Download. Click to open the dialog box to rename the file if desired.
Click Done (Finish). The blue button is on the upper right side of the dialog box.
Click ≡. The button is on the upper left side of the screen.
Click Documents (Document). The button is on the upper left side of the screen.
Click Downloads. The button with a folder icon is in the right frame of the screen.
Click and hold the video.
Drag the video to the upper left. Drag the text "Drag Here" and hold it until the folder icon appears on the screen.
Drag the video into the "Photos" folder and release. The video will include the color spectrum flower icon of the Photos app.
Press the Home button. The button has a circular shape on the front of the iPad.
Open Photos. The application has a white color containing a flower made up of the color spectrum.
ClickAll Photos. This is the album in the top left corner of the screen.
Click on the video. This is the final item below the summary screen. Do this to open the video and start playing in the iPad's Photos app.
Warning
- At this time, YouTube does not support or encourage downloading videos for later offline viewing. Bear in mind that third-party video downloads and apps may stop working at any time or be removed from the App Store without prior notice or warning.
