This wiki page will show you how to connect the soundbar to your Windows computer.

Steps

Method 1 of 3: Use Bluetooth (Wireless)

  1. Turn on the soundbar.
    • If the soundbar is battery-powered, insert the battery, then press the power button.
    • If the soundbar is powered on, plug the power cable into a wall outlet or a long outlet, and then press the power button.

  2. Put the soundbar in pairing mode. The steps to do this vary from model to model, but you will often have to press a button on the soundbar for the computer to detect it.
    • Check the soundbar's user guide for steps specific to your model.
    • Some soundbars will automatically turn on pairing mode.

  3. Open the Action Center in Windows 10. It's a square chat bubble to the right of the clock on the taskbar, usually located at the bottom of the screen. There may be a small number on the icon.
  4. Turn on Bluetooth. Locate the "Bluetooth" box, there is a small icon that looks like a bow on its side.
    • If the box is light in color and says "Not Connected" (or shows the name of a connected device), Bluetooth is enabled.
    • If the box says "Bluetooth" and is dark, tap it to turn on Bluetooth.

  5. Click the cell Connect (Floating Link) in the Action Center. This option has an icon for the computer monitor and speakers. Windows will begin scanning your device.
  6. Click on the soundbar when it shows up. This will connect your computer to the soundbar. Once connected, all sounds will be routed to the soundbar.
    • When the speaker is paired, the computer will automatically connect to the speaker whenever it is within range.

Method 2 of 3: Use an AUX cable

  1. Turn on the soundbar.
    • If the soundbar is battery-powered, insert the battery, then press the power button.
    • If the soundbar is powered on, plug the power cable into a wall outlet or a long outlet, and then press the power button.
  2. Plug one end of the AUX cable into your computer's audio port. Plug the 3.5mm jack into the port with the little headphone icon printed on it. This port is usually located next to the port used for the laptop keyboard or located on the front of the desktop.
  3. Plug the other end of the AUX cable into the soundbar. The end position of the cable will vary by device, but usually the port will be labeled "AUX." Once the connection is made, Windows will automatically play the sound through the soundbar. advertisement

Method 3 of 3: use an optical optical cable (Toslink)

  1. Turn on the soundbar.
    • If the soundbar is battery-powered, insert the battery, then press the power button
    • If the soundbar is powered on, plug the power cable into a wall outlet or a long outlet, and then press the power button.
  2. Insert one end of the Toslink cable into the soundbar. If the soundbar has a Toslink port (also known as an optical audio cable), you can use an optical audio cable to connect to the computer. Ports are usually labeled "TOSLINK" or "OPTICAL."
    • Toslink is the standard optical audio cable commonly used to connect home theater systems with digital electronic devices, such as DVD players.
  3. Insert the other end of the Toslink cable into the computer. Ports are typically labeled "TOSLINK," "OPTICAL," or "DIGITAL AUDIO OUT." (DIGITAL AUDIO OUTPUT). If you are using a desktop computer, it will be on the back. If it's a laptop, it's likely that the port will be on either side. Once connected, the computer sends all sounds through the soundbar.
    • Some thinner laptops may not have a TOSLINK port.
