A tutu is a cute gift for kids or great for yourself. Best of all, it's simple and easy to make, no sewing required.

Part 1 of 3: Preparing the elastic

1. Take the waist measurement. Have the tutu-bearer-to-be stand still with a straight back.
   • Measure with a tape measure from the waist down the leg to where you want the bottom of the tutu.
   • Most tutus are between 11 '' and 14 '' long, measured from the waist.
2. Have the person for whom the tutu is trying on the elastic. This way you can be sure that it is tight enough around the waist. Adjust it as needed.

Part 2 of 3: Preparing the tulle

1. Choose the tulle. Tulle comes in many different colors and can be purchased at fabric stores, craft stores and at the market. Take 15 cm wide tulle in the desired color.
   • Most tutus are plain, but you can also combine different colors of tulle.
2. Buy more tulle than you need. Better to have some extra tulle on hand in case you make mistakes or need to adjust things.
   • Buy at least 9 m for a tutu for a small child.
   • For an adult you buy at least 13.7 m.
3. Check if the tutu fits. Have the tutu try on the skirt to make sure it's the right length and you can move or dance in it easily.
4. Add one final finishing touch to the tutu, such as ribbon or flowers. Tie or glue the ribbon to the elastic. If you want to add buttons, flowers or other embellishments, simply pin them to the tutu or elastic.
