Perfumes generally do not have an expiration date, but are not actually designed for long-term use. You can extend the shelf life of your perfume by storing it properly. 1. Make sure to keep the cap on the bottle. Never leave the cap off after using the perfume. The less the perfume is exposed to the open air, the better it will hold.
   • Make sure the cap is firmly in place when you put it back on the bottle.
2. Do not shake the perfume bottles. Many people shake perfume before use. Shaking the bottle can expose the perfume to excess air, which can be harmful. Unless there are specific instructions on how to shake perfume before use, you should never do this when applying perfume.
3. Do not overuse the applicator. A perfume applicator is a stick that is dipped in perfume and then wiped on the body. You can work very specifically with an applicator, but reusing an applicator can also damage the perfume because bacteria and oils get into the bottle.
   • Instead, choose to use perfume sprays.
   • If you still want to use an applicator, use a disposable version.
4. Do not store fragile bottles on high shelves. If a box falls from a high shelf, a breakable bottle can easily shatter. This would ruin the entire bottle of perfume. Always keep delicate bottles on the floor of a cabinet or on a lower shelf.
