Who doesn't like donuts? Donuts are a typical American delicacy and are eaten as a snack, with tea or for breakfast. Why spend money on donuts when you can easily make them yourself at home for little money? You can read how here!

Ingredients

Donut dough

  • 2 sachets of yeast
  • 100 ml of warm water
  • 350 ml of lukewarm milk
  • 125 grams of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 75 grams of margarine
  • 550 grams of flour
  • vegetable oil

Glaze

  • 75 grams of butter
  • 250 grams of icing sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons of vanilla extract
  • 2-4 tablespoons of hot water
  • Chocolate (optional) (Improvement needed: quantity not stated)

To step

Method 1 of 3: Donuts

  1. Mix the warm water with the yeast. Let the yeast dissolve completely in the water.
  2. Add the salt, margarine, milk, sugar, eggs and 220 grams of flour. Mix all ingredients together. If you are using an electric mixer, set it to a low speed. Scrape the dough that sticks to the edges of the bowl and add it to the rest. Do this for half a minute.
  3. Blend the mixture on medium speed for an additional 2 minutes. Keep scraping the dough off the edges and adding it to the rest. Add the remaining flour and mix until an even mass is formed.
  4. Cover the bowl and let the dough rise for 50 to 60 minutes. Put the bowl in a warm place. The dough has risen enough if you can push it in with your finger and the dent you make with it does not spring back.
  5. Sprinkle some flour on a flat surface, such as the counter or cutting board. Spoon the dough onto the surface and roll it through the flour to cover it with a layer of flour. Divide the dough into balls and flatten them, so that each ball finally becomes a flat disc about 1.5 cm thick. You can use a rolling pin for this. (Put flour on the rolling pin so that the dough does not stick to it). Make a hole in the center of each disc.
  6. Cover the donuts again and let them rise for another 30 to 40 minutes.
  7. Set a deep fryer to 180ºC. Slowly slide the donuts into the oil one by one. Fry them for one minute on each side. When the donut is golden brown in color, it is ready.
  8. Remove the donuts from the oil, being careful not to poke the crust. Drain the donuts well.
  9. Dip the donuts in the white icing. Then let the donuts cool and then spread chocolate icing on top.

Method 2 of 3: White icing

  1. Heat the butter in a saucepan. Once the butter has melted, remove the pan from the heat.
  2. Add the vanilla and icing sugar and keep stirring until smooth.
  3. Add water (one tablespoon at a time) and keep stirring until the substance is good.

Method 3 of 3: Chocolate icing

  1. Heat the butter and chocolate in a saucepan.
  2. Remove the pan from the heat and add the vanilla and icing sugar. Stir until smooth.
  3. Add water (one tablespoon at a time) and keep stirring until the substance is good.
  4. Ready!
