With FaceTime you can video chat for free on your iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch or Mac. To use FaceTime, you must first link your Apple ID to your iOS device. Read how to do that in this article.

To step

  1. On the home screen, tap "Settings".
  2. Tap FaceTime.
  3. Enter your Apple ID. To activate FaceTime, you must now enter your Apple ID. If you don't have an Apple ID yet, you can create an Apple ID here. Tap "Log in".
  4. If you do this on an iPhone or you have already set up FaceTime on your iPhone, your phone number will be displayed. Otherwise, you will only see the email address associated with your Apple ID. Select or deselect the addresses shown. Tap "Next".
  5. FaceTime is now on, you can be found using the email addresses you selected.

Tips

  • In the "Caller ID" section of the FaceTime settings you can select whether the outgoing FaceTime calls are shown as your phone number or as one of the selected email addresses.

Warnings

  • Using FaceTime over the telephone network requires a lot of bandwidth and can therefore cost a lot of money.
