It is not difficult to close a PayPal account. This article tells you how. Please note that once you have closed the account, you cannot reopen it.

Method 1 of 3: Close your account

1. Log in to the PayPal homepage. Enter your username and password on the homepage.
2. Make sure that there are no more transactions open on your account. You must ensure that no more amounts need to be sent or received when you close your account.
3. Transfer the outstanding balance to your bank account. It can take 3 or 4 business days for this to be completed. Check whether this was successful before closing your PayPal account.
4. Go to My account. Click on the tab Profile at the right.
5. Go to your settings. Under the words My profile you see a menu on the left. click on Account settings.
6. Close your account. Click on the Close accountlink in the Account type-queue.
7. Follow the verification steps that now appear.
8. Complete the process. When you have verified everything and you are sure that you want to cancel your account, click on the button Cancel account .

Method 2 of 3: Remove a limit on your account before closing

1. Log in to the PayPal homepage. Enter your username and password on the homepage.
2. Click on the "My account" tab.
3. Click on the "Action Center" link. You can find it at the top of the page.
4. Look at the list of documents that PayPal is asking for. Your account may be limited at this time because you linked it to an unverified bank account, for example, or for other reasons. Until you have provided the missing information, you cannot lift the restriction and you cannot close your account.
5. Send the requested documents to the PayPal action center. You can email or fax the documents.
6. Wait until you have all the rights back to your account. It may take about a week for PayPal to process all documents and lift restrictions.
7. Close the account. Go to your settings and follow the instructions above to cancel your account.

Method 3 of 3: Awaiting input and closing

1. If the methods above don't work, it could be because they are waiting for an action.
2. Go to Help / Contact us. This allows you to email the company.
3. Select the information. There will be two lines of information:
   • Select My Account on the first line.
   • Select Close Paypal Account on the second line.
4. You will now see a screen to close the account.
5. Answer the question correctly.
6. Go ahead and close your account.
