In this article, we will teach you how to change the name of your Android phone, on both network devices and Bluetooth devices.
To step
Method 1 of 2: Change your device name
Open the settings of your Android device. You do this by tapping the icon that looks like a gear on one of your home screens.
- You may find the app "Settings" in your App Drawer, which is the grid of dots on your home screen.
Scroll to the green "Options" section and tap About phone. On some phones this option is called Device Information.
Scroll down and tap Device Name.
Enter a new name.
Tap Done. Your Android device will now display the new name when connecting to Bluetooth, wireless networks, or a computer.
Method 2 of 2: Change the Bluetooth name
Open the settings of your Android device. You do this by tapping the icon that looks like a gear on one of your home screens.
- You may find the app "Settings" in your App Drawer, which is the grid of dots on your home screen.
Tap Bluetooth.
Tap the Bluetooth button if Bluetooth is not currently on. Bluetooth must be activated to change the device name.
Tap ⋮. It's in the top right corner of the window.
Tap Rename this device.
Enter a new name.
Tap Rename. If you now connect to a Bluetooth network (eg a car radio) you should see the new name of your phone.
Tips
- If you can't change the phone name, try resetting your phone and turning on Bluetooth.
Warnings
- If you use your phone as a mobile hotspot, you may not see it under the new name.
