Aloo paratha is a delicious potato-filled bread. "Aloo" means potato. Aloo paratha is very easy to make and tastes great for breakfast or as a snack. With the recipe below you can make four parathas.

Ingredients

  • 4 boiled potatoes, peeled and mashed
  • Salt to taste
  • Cumin powder
  • Chili powder to taste
  • 1 onion, finely chopped (optional)

For the dough:

  • 200 grams of flour
  • 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil
  • Enough water
  • 4 tablespoons of butter

To step

  1. Knead the flour with 1/2 tablespoon of oil and plenty of water. The dough should be slightly firmer than the average pizza dough.
  2. Set the dough aside for 1/2 hour.
  3. Add all the dry herbs, the chopped onion and the salt to the mashed potatoes. Mash it well so that there are no more lumps in it. The mashed potatoes should also not be too watery.
  4. Sprinkle some flour on the counter. Make balls of the dough.
  5. Roll the balls one by one into thick small discs.
  6. Pick up a slice with one hand and place some mashed potatoes in the center.
  7. Fold the edges in as with a dumpling, so that no more filling is visible.
  8. Roll the dumplings so that they are well round again.
  9. Sprinkle some flour on the balls and on the counter. Put the balls down and press them with your rolling pin to create a plus sign. This way you ensure that the filling is well spread throughout the dough.
  10. Now roll the ball into a flat, but not too thin disc. Remember that the filling should not come out.
  11. Heat a skillet over medium heat. Grease the pan with butter and fry the parathas on both sides, turning them over so that they brown nicely.
  12. Your parathas are ready. Serve them with chutney, yogurt or just some butter! Delicious when it is cold outside!

Tips

  • Start with a lot of dough and little filling. If you can do it better, use less dough and more filling.
  • Don't let your pan get too hot, or the parathas will burn and they won't be cooked on the inside. Place the pan on medium heat and let them fry gently.
  • You can make the parathas healthier by adding grated (cooked) carrots, mashed peas, etc.

Warnings

  • The pan is hotso don't touch it and keep your kids away.
