1 Choose a large and flexible card. It doesn't have to be a credit card. You can also use a store discount card, gift card, fitness membership card, etc. By using a credit card, you run the risk of breaking it in the process or demagnetizing it. The card should be large and flexible, and strong enough to press down on the metal latch.

• Look in your wallet for cards that are larger and more flexible than your credit card. Perhaps you have an old hotel key lying around or old cards that you no longer use?
• Laminated cards are the most flexible.
• You can also cut a strip from the plastic bottle to add flexibility and length.

2 Swipe the card through the hole between the door and the door jamb. Slide the card as far as possible at a perpendicular angle to the door. • If it doesn't work, you can take an unnecessary card and cut the letter V out of it and repeat the above steps.

Tips

• If you don't know what type of lock you have, just slide the card in and twist in different directions at the same time.
• Some doors are very easy to open, even without turning or yanking the door. Just slide the card in and push.
• If your credit card doesn't flex well, try a business card.
• If the door has a finish that prevents the card from opening the door, you will either have to break the trim or find another way.
• If the door has a bolt, you cannot open it. Just knock out a door or cut a lock.
• You can also try shoving the card in and pulling the doorknob, putting pressure on the card. But in this case, you will damage the card more, and the process may take longer.
• Do not get into such situations and you do not have to look for a way out of them.
