What do you need

1 Place the pencil in position before turning. Place the end of the pencil on your index finger, the middle on the tip of your middle finger, your thumb on top, and the nail of your ring finger to hold the pencil on the other side. Clear? Great.

There should be a feeling that the pencil is barely holding onto your fingertips, and you need to make a twist. Your hand should be relaxed. It will feel as if the pencil is about to fall, but this is the only way to rotate it.

2 Tighten your ring finger by bending it back sharply. The initial push will give you a straightening of your ring finger, which will send the pencil spinning around your middle finger. Perhaps the little finger itself will follow; do not interfere, everything is as it should be.

This is only part of the whole picture. You can practice this trick, but you won't master it until you master the movements of the rest of your fingers.

3 Get your index and thumb out of the way. Let's discuss them separately:

The pencil was resting on the pad of his index finger. Once you send it spinning around your middle finger, just move your middle finger away from the pencil. You will need it to grab the pencil, but during the initial push, simply move it out of the way.
The thumb should slide along the pencil towards the tip. When it rises That's what it is the moment of dropping the tip of the pencil while the ring finger moves the base. These two gestures move the pencil around the middle finger. Like your index finger, your thumb is used for the initial thrust and then to catch the moving pencil.

4 When the pencil begins to move, point your middle finger forward. When your thumb lets go of the tip of the pencil and your ring finger pushes it away, pull your middle finger toward you, bending it slightly. This will allow your index and thumb to catch the pencil.

This is a very neat movement. If you do it too sharply, the pencil will fly away - the teacher is unlikely to appreciate it.

5 Use your thumb to catch the pencil. When the pencil has made a full circle around the middle finger, stop it with your thumb. Having done this, catch it from the bottom with your index finger. That's it - it's a complete twist for the book of records.

6 Keep rotating the pencil to complete the trick. After catching the pencil after rotating, return your fingers to their original position. Now training, training and training again.

When the pencil has made a complete circle around the middle finger, it should be between the index and thumb. Grab it immediately by pinching it between any finger and any part of the thumb. The pencil should be in position as for writing or similar. This is a good way to complete the trick.

Part 2 of 2: Improving Technique

1 Start slowly. In the first stages of learning, do everything in slow motion. Watch the rotation around your middle finger as long as you need to - this will help you learn the basics of the trick. Then, when it gets better, speed up. It takes practice and time.
- You will find that, as you move slowly, you will need to support the pencil with your index finger to send it towards your thumb. This is the main difference between fast and slow execution. When you move quickly, the pencil gains enough momentum to dispense with the support of your index finger.
- If you get stuck, try the trick without holding the pencil with your thumb. It helps to carry out the Harmonica concept and put a trick into the combo; if you have to place your pencil on your thumb every time you do a trick, the sequence breaks down.
2 Experiment with different pens and pencils. Sometimes the weight or length of a particular pen or pencil just doesn't fit into your technique. If it doesn’t work well, try with a different pen. It may surprise you, but sometimes it depends on the instrument more than on you.
- Pencils are long and thin, making them harder to rotate. Imagine if your arms were one and a half meters long, and you had to rotate something with them. Inconvenient, right? You can swap it for a shorter, less smooth handle - there is something to catch on to.
3 Try a double turn. Once you've mastered this trick, try starting with your pencil between your pinky and ring fingers. Following the same steps, rotate the pencil around your ring finger and catch it with your middle and ring fingers. You should now be able to rotate it around your middle finger. The double turn looks very impressive. You can even rotate the pencil from your pinky / ring finger to your middle / index finger!
- You can learn to do this trick in reverse (from index / middle finger to middle / ring) - and then you can do it back and forth endlessly. Then it will be called "Harmonic around the middle finger".
4 Try different spins. This view is good for classroom use. You stop the pencil with your thumb so you don't risk accidentally dropping it into the cool aquarium. But as mentioned, this technique may not work for you. Ever tried rolling a pencil around your thumb? There are a couple of ways to do this.

Tips

Cover the table with a tablecloth to prevent the pencil from bouncing and falling to the floor.
Exercise in your free time and watching TV.
As you improve your skill, use your middle finger less and less. In the end, it will seem that not the fingers are moving, but only the pencil.
Never straighten your fingers too much, or the pencil may bounce to the side, possibly rotating as you do so.
Change the strength to perform the trick. The method described above will not work for all techniques.
In professional language, this trick is called "Around the Middle Finger".
After completing the rotation, return the pencil to its original position with the other hand if it is difficult for you to control one.

Warnings

A mechanical pen or an unsharpened pencil will reduce the risk of injury.
If you decide to use a pen, put a cap on it. Some handles leak during the trick.
If the pencil bounces off the side during rotation, it could hit someone around you or you. Don't click too hard on the pencil. The "click" should be casual.
