There are many programs that rip DVD to AVI format, but if you want to rip DVD and burn copied to new disc, read this article.
Steps
1 Use the Nero program. It is the most popular CD ripping software. Download the free version of Nero or buy this program. After installing Nero, just copy the DVD. 
2 Copying. Insert the disc, then open Nero and click "Copy Disk". Wait until copying is complete and insert a blank disc that will contain the copied data. 
3 Process. The data on the first disc will be copied to your computer and then written (unchanged) to a blank disc. 
4 An alternative way to copy a disc. Open My Computer, open the DVD, copy its contents and paste the copied data into a specially created folder. Insert a blank disc, start Nero, select “Write data” and add the copied data from the DVD from the folder you created.
Tips
- You don't have to buy Nero as there is a free version of this program.
- If for some reason you don't like Nero, there are many other similar free programs out there.
Warnings
- Burning copies of commercially released films or other video files to disc is illegal. However, you can do this (at your own risk) as long as you do not distribute the recorded DVDs.
