It takes less than 10 minutes to download Kodi on Amazon Fire TV, and best of all, it doesn't require root access. If set up properly, Amazon Fire TV is the best (non-HTPC) option available for Kodi / streaming media player. Amazon Fire TV launches almost instantly (technically wakes up from sleep). So let's find out how to install Kodi on Amazon Fire TV. This method should also work for downloading Kodi or XBMC to Fire TV stick.
Steps
1 Download Kodi for Amazon Fire TV. Go to the Kodi download page and download the latest stable Kodi installer (apk) available for Android ARM architecture. 
2 On Amazon Fire TV, enable ADB Debugging. The first thing to do is enable ADB Debugging on Amazon Fire TV. This will allow you to connect to your TV box, make changes, and download XBMC. To do this, go to Settings -> Developer Options and enable ADB Debugging. Then open Settings -> About - Network and write down the IP address of your Fire TV. 
3 Download the AFTV Toolkit. There are currently two main utilities for uploading third-party apps to Amazon Fire TV - the Amazon Fire TV Utility App and the adbFire app. The ADB Fire app is available for Windows, Mac and Linux, while the Amazon Fire TV Utility only runs on Windows. Depending on your preference, you can use any of the above applications. I use both as each has its own unique capabilities. On Windows, download one of the apps and unzip it to a separate folder on drive C. Here we show you how to use the Fire TV Utility App. 
4 Downloading Kodi using the Fire TV Utility App. In the Amazon Fire TV Utility app on Windows, select File -> Connect to connect to your Fire TV. Enter the IP address and select Normal Debug mode, then click Save and Close. A command prompt (shown below) appears, indicating that the connection was successful. Then 1) make sure that at the bottom of the Fire TV Utility app it says Connected to 192.168.1.187 (of course, this should be your device's IP address), 2) find the Kodi ARM apk file you downloaded earlier, 3) click on Click the “Side Load 3rd Party Application” button to install Kodi on your Amazon Fire TV. You should receive a message that Kodi has been successfully installed. That's all there is to know about downloading Kodi on Amazon Fire TV using the Fire TV utility app.
