This tutorial will teach you how to install Oracle Express Edition 11g, which is a common piece of software among software developers.

Steps

1. 1 Open up this link.
2. 2 Select "Accept License Agreement" first. Download the correct file for your computer (Windows or Linux). Save this file.
3. 3 Find the downloaded file, unzip it, double click the "Setup" button to install the Oracle database.
4. 4 Click the Next button.
5. 5 Select "I accept the term in the license agreement", then click the Next button.
6. 6 Select a folder for the location of the database file, then click Next.
7. 7 Enter and confirm the password for the database, and then click Next.
8. 8 Click the "Finish" button.
9. 9 Start the Oracle Database 11G Express database by clicking Start, then Oracle Database 11G Edition. Next, go to the main page of the database.
10. 10 Enter in the field Username: System, in the field Password : (the one you signed in and registered with above).
11. 11 Select successively the commands "Administration" ==> "Database Users" ==> Create User for you. Then exit.
12. 12 You can now log in again and use the Oracle database.

Tips

• In step 7: the password is either SYS or SYSTEM
• To upload the table you created, go to the Home page, then click SQL, then click SQL Scripts, then click Upload.

Warnings

• For Step 11: Choose all system privileges to support the experiment (you don't need all of them). Don't select DBA (since you want this account to be different from SYSTEM and SYS.
• Before the download process and at the beginning of the installation, you need to select "I accept the agreement"!
