1 Wrap the discs in plastic wrap and then fold.

2 Shred discs in a disc shredder.

3 Cut the discs. You can use scissors, but be careful as the foil will flake off.

4 Break the discs. Wrap the discs in a towel and grind them with a hammer. You need a towel to protect you.

5 Microwave your discs. Place the disc in the microwave and set the timer for 5-10 seconds (until you see a spark). After that, you will not be able to use the microwave for food.

• Perform this method only in the presence of an adult.

6 Stick the tape on the disc and then tear it off. This does not work on all discs.

7 Cut the discs with a knife.

8 Sand the discs. You can use a sander for this, but do it where you can easily clean everything up.

9 Hole the discs. Make at least 12 holes in the discs.

10 Erase discs using a computer if the disc is rewritable and the computer has a CD-RW drive.

11 Wipe with acetone. Soak a cotton pad in clean acetone, then wipe the underside of the pad. It should become dull and unreadable.

Warnings

• The fumes generated by heating discs in a microwave oven are toxic. Use a microwave that you will no longer need as you will no longer be able to use it for food.
• Children should not try to destroy the disc.
• It may be possible to recover information after microwaving or otherwise processing the disc.
• Discs can damage some microwave ovens. You can reduce the damage by placing a glass of water in the microwave with a disc.
• Microwaving the disc can give it an unpleasant odor.
