In this article, you will learn three ways to remove blank rows in Google Sheets. Blank lines can be removed individually, using a filter, or using a custom add-on that will remove all blank lines and cells.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Deleting Rows Individually
- 1 Open your browser and go to this address: https://sheets.google.com. If you are automatically signed in to Google, you will see a list of documents associated with your account.
- Sign in to Google if you haven't already.
- 2 Click on a document in Google Sheets.
- 3 Click on the line number with the right mouse button. The lines are numbered in the gray column on the left.
- 4 Click on Delete line.
Method 2 of 3: Using a filter
- 1 Open your browser and go to this address: https://sheets.google.com. If you are automatically signed in to Google, you will see a list of documents associated with your account.
- 2 Click on a document in Google Sheets.
- 3 Click and drag your cursor over the document to select all data.
- 4 Go to the tab Data. It is located in the menu bar at the top of the window.
- 5 Press Create filter.
- 6 Click on the green triangle icon in the upper left cell.
- 7 Press Sort A → Zto move all empty cells down.
Method 3 of 3: Using add-ons
- 1 Open your browser and go to this address: https://sheets.google.com. If you are automatically signed in to Google, you will see a list of documents associated with your account.
- 2 Click on a document in Google Sheets.
- 3 Go to the tab Supplements. It is located in the menu bar at the top of the window.
- 4 Press Install add-ons.
- 5Enter Remove blank rows into the search box and click ↵ Enter
- 6 Click on the button + Free to the right of the add-on name. The icon for this add-on has an image of an eraser.
- 7 Click on your Google account. If you have multiple accounts, you will be asked to choose where to install the add-on.
- 8 Click on Allow.
- 9 Click on the tab again Supplementslocated at the top of the menu bar.
- 10 Click on add-on Remove Blank Rows (and More).
- 11 Press Delete Blank Rows / Columns (Remove empty rows / columns). After that, the add-on options will appear in the column on the right.
- 12 Click on the empty gray cell in the upper left corner of the table to select the entire table.
- Or just press on the keyboard Ctrl+A.
- 13 Press Delete. This button is among the add-on options.
