This article will show you how to delete your LinkedIn account. If you have a premium subscription, you will first need to cancel your LinkedIn account before permanently deleting your LinkedIn account.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: On a computer
1 Go to LinkedIn website. If you are already signed in, you will be taken to your home page.
- If you are not automatically logged in, enter your username and password and click Log In.
2 Click on your name in the upper right corner of your profile page.
- If you left the profile picture blank, it will look like the silhouette of a person's head and shoulders.
3 Select Settings & Privacy from the drop-down menu.
4 Scroll down and select Close LinkedIn Accounts at the bottom of the Settings & Privacy page.
- If you have a premium subscription, you will be warned that your account cannot be closed until you cancel it.
- Click on the "Convert to Basic Account" link on this page to go to the unsubscribe page.
5 Indicate the reason for closing your account by choosing one of the following options:
- I have a duplicate account. records;
- i receive too many messages;
- I am not getting any benefit from my participation on LinkedIn;
- I am concerned about the confidentiality of my data;
- I receive unwanted messages and requests;
- other;
- if necessary, please provide feedback at the bottom of the page.
6 Click Next at the bottom of the page.
7 Enter password. Do not forget to also check the box “Unsubscribe by email. messages from LinkedIn ”below the password field.
8 Click Close Account to officially delete your LinkedIn account.
- It will take several weeks for the account to disappear from the search engine results.
Method 2 of 2: On a mobile app
1 Launch the LinkedIn app. If you are already signed in, you will be taken to your profile page.
- If you are not automatically logged in, click Login, enter your username and password and click Login again.
2 Click on your photo. It's the profile icon in the lower right (iPhone) or upper right corner of the screen (Android).
- If you didn't upload a profile picture, the icon will look like a silhouette of a person's head and shoulders.
3 Click on ⚙️ in the upper right corner of the screen.
4 On the Account tab, you must click on the Closing account option.
- If you have a premium subscription, you will be warned that in order to close your account, you must first unsubscribe from LinkedIn. Your account cannot be closed until you cancel your premium subscription.
5 Click Continue at the bottom of the page.
6 Select the reason for closing your account by choosing one of the following options:
- I have a duplicate account. records;
- i receive too many messages;
- I am not getting any benefit from my participation on LinkedIn;
- I am concerned about the confidentiality of my data;
- I receive unwanted messages and requests;
- other.
7 Click Next at the bottom of the screen.
- If asked to explain your choice, do so and then click Next to continue with the closing procedure.
8 Enter your password. Do not forget to also check the box “Unsubscribe by email. messages from LinkedIn ”below the password field.
9 Click Close Account to officially delete your LinkedIn account. Despite the closure of the account, it will continue to appear in Google search results over the next several weeks.
Tips
- Before you can close your account, you will have to close all groups that you have created.
Warnings
- If you have a paid LinkedIn account, take a look at your payment card statements. Make sure the company does not continue to charge you after you delete your account.
