Do you have friends with cracked copies of Minecraft? You can play with them online even if you do have an official version. All you have to do is set up a Minecraft with a few tweaks, and everyone can participate, whether their copies are official or not.

To step

  1. Download the server software. The server software can be downloaded for free from Minecraft's website: https://minecraft.net/download. Click the "Download it here" link on the right side of the Minecraft homepage, then click the link to the server file in the Multiplayer Server section. The file will be downloaded.
  2. Create a folder to the server. Make sure this folder is easy to access as you will have to change some data in it. Give it a name that is easy to identify, such as "Minecraft_Server". Copy the downloaded server program to this folder.
  3. Run the server once. Double-click the program to start the server. You will now see several FAILED messages in the server log, but this is normal. If you see “[INFO] Done” in the Log and Chat window, type “stop” in the server command prompt and press Enter to exit.
  4. Open it.eula.txt file.
  5. Change the.eula = falseline ineula = true. Save the file.
  6. Run the server again. More files are created in the server folder. Shut down the server after all additional files have been created.
  7. Open it.server.properties file. When you try to open it, select Notepad from the list of available programs. This will open the file in Notepad, after which you will see some of the code from the server, which you can edit.
  8. Look for the.online-mode = true rule. Change true in false and save the file. This will prevent the server from contacting the official Minecraft servers to verify usernames, allowing players with cracked copies to connect to the server.
  9. Set the port forwarding. In order for others to be able to connect to your server, you will need to open a port for Minecraft. You can set port forwarding in the configuration menu of your router. Set the router to port 25565 for the IP address of your computer.
  10. Restart the server. Once the file has been saved, you can restart the server and it will be cracked. Anyone with an IP address of the server can connect to it. If you want to look up an IP address, you can find it in the file server.properties, under server-ip.
  11. Connect to your own server. If you want to join on your own server on the same machine, start Minecraft, click Multiplayer and select Add Server. Give the server whatever name you want and type “localhost” as Address. This will connect you to your own server, as long as it is running on the same computer.
