This article will show you how to disable the Google app on your Android device to remove the Google search bar from the home screen.

Steps

1. 1 Open the Application Drawer. It contains all applications (pre-installed and third-party) that are installed on the device.
2. 2 Tap the icon . The Settings app will open.
3. 3 Click on Applications. A list of all installed applications will open.
   • Depending on your device model and Android version, you may have to go to the General tab to find the Applications option.
4. 4 Tap Google. This icon is in the form of a multicolored letter "G". The "About Application" page opens.
5. 5 Click on Disable. Then confirm your actions in the pop-up window.
6. 6 Tap OKto disable the Google app.
   • Please note that you cannot uninstall this app, but you can uninstall its updates.
7. 7 Reboot your device. To do this, turn it off and then turn it on. The changes you make will take effect. Since you've disabled the Google app, you won't find the Google search bar on the home screen of your device.
