Pennants are a festive decoration made of fabric, paper, plastic and other materials. In this article, you will learn how to make fabric pennants to decorate your home, garden, bedroom, guest or summer house and tent.

Method 1 of 1: Making Pennants

1. 1 Start by printing out a template. Draw a triangle 20 cm wide and 20 cm high, and then cut it out.
2. 2 Place the mold on the material. If you have a tea towel, use the seam edge of the towel as the top side of the triangle (this will save you time from sewing the side).
3. 3 Use scallop scissors to cut around the pattern.
4. 4 Repeat this step to make a small pile of triangular pieces of material.
5. 5 Lay the tape and attach the triangles to it, applying the seam side to the tape.
6. 6 Leave about 3-5 cm of free space between the triangles.
7. 7 Continue pinning flags until you get a pennant of the desired length. Remember to leave the edges of the ribbon free so you can tie it. Sew the flags to the ribbon with a straight stitch. The sewing machine will be faster, but you can do it by hand too.
8. 8If you used the seam side of a tea towel, wrap the material over the top a bit and sew it to the tape.
9. 9Continue sewing on the flags until you have sewn them all on.
10. 10Iron the flags and then hang them up!

Tips

• By using scalloped scissors (for zigzag edges), you don't have to stitch every single flag together.
• Use kitchen towels as the material, as they are quite cheap.
• You can also use a sewing machine.
• Alternate the colors of the pennant flags, stick to a specific color scheme, or use multi-colored pieces of material.
• Save time by using the seam edge of the towel. This way you have less work to do.

• Be careful when working with scissors, safety pins, and a sewing machine. These tips are not intended for children, unless they are supervised by an adult.
