It is often sold near educational institutions, but adults also love it very much. It is very easy to prepare this delicious dessert; read our article for the recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup glutinous rice flour
  • 1/2 glass of water
  • 1/2 cup granulated white sugar for dusting
  • 1 cup of coconut for dusting
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds for dusting

Steps

Method 1 of 1: Making Palitaw

  1. 1 Combine the rice flour and water in a large bowl. Stir until all ingredients are combined until smooth. You should have some dough. If the dough is too sticky, add some more rice flour and knead well. If you think the dough is too dry, add a little water and knead. Continue adding ingredients gradually until you get the consistency you want.
  2. 2 Knead the dough until smooth and elastic. The dough should be smooth, dry to the touch and not sticky to your hands. Then divide a large piece of dough into small balls about the size of ping-pong balls. Make a pie out of each ball.
  3. 3 Boil 2 liters of water in a large saucepan. Place the patties one at a time in boiling water. They will begin to float to the surface after they are ready.
  4. 4 Remove the patties from the hot water. As soon as the patties float to the surface, remove them with a slotted spoon and place them on a plate. Cool the patties slightly before proceeding.
  5. 5 Combine sugar, coconut and sesame seeds in a bowl. Once the rice cakes have cooled sufficiently, dip them one at a time in the coconut mixture. Place the patties on a flat surface after you have covered them with the mixture.
  6. 6 Serve the Palitaw while still warm. Place the patties on a platter. Place a pair of tongs next to the platter to make it easier for your guests to grab.

Tips

  • Try lightly toasting the coconut and sesame seeds before using them. Spread sesame seeds and coconut on parchment paper and bake for 10-15 minutes at 160 degrees.
