Large plant containers are ridiculously expensive. However, you can make your own "huge" container that will last longer than you and your plants. You won't need a lot of money, but you will have to put in some effort.

Steps

  1. 1 Buy one of the plastic containers that companies use to transport liquids and sand. These containers are virtually indestructible as they are made to withstand years of use when hauled in and out of trucks.
    • You can buy a used container. It's okay if this container has already been decently used before you, it is all scratched and dents, because this is what will save you money. Select the one that has fallen off the legs.
  2. 2 Drill holes in the bottom of the container in the form of a grid.
    • So the water will flow out of it freely.
  3. 3 Cut the covering material to the desired size and tape to the bottom. So the soil will not fall out through the drilled holes, and the material will allow excess water to pass through. The container has its own legs, so everything will work with a bang. If you are still worried, you can punch holes in this material with a knife, but this is hardly really necessary.
  4. 4 Work on the design of the container. You can buy cheap garden wood planks to sheathe the outside of the containers. Simply saw the boards and fasten them together so that the screws or nails are not visible from the outside (a fairly simple process). Just remember: measure seven times, cut once.
  5. 5 Secure the boards together with corner brackets. Optionally, nail the rubber O-ring underneath the planks to lift them slightly off the floor (available at any hardware store).
  6. 6 Think of something so you don't have to fill the entire container with soil. A little trick: you can fill the container up to half with polystyrene so that it passes water or make a fake bottom. This will make your flower container much lighter. Alternatively, you can fill the container completely with soil. The more soil there is, the more moisture will be retained, so this is also a plus.
  7. 7 Go to a store that sells products for the garden and vegetable garden, buy discount beautiful plants. You can also buy a plastic flower bed curb and wrap it around an ugly old pot, or buy a large grout container (drill holes in the bottom) from a hardware store to make a cute and cheap flower container.
