The fact that your siblings walk into a room without permission can be very annoying. If they keep coming in despite your threats and requests, set up the door signal!

Steps

  1. 1 Place the bell and battery on the tree as shown in the picture. Glue them with duct tape.
  2. 2 Wrap the ends of the clothespin bare wire, no insulation.
    • The wires should touch when the clothespin is closed.
  3. 3 Connect one of the free ends of the clothespin wire to the battery wire.
  4. 4 Connect the wire from the clothespin to the bell.
  5. 5 Run the remaining piece of battery wire to the bell.
  6. 6 Test it turning on the alarm, opening and closing the clothespin. When the clothespin is closed, the bell should turn on. If not, check if the wires are connected correctly.
  7. 7 Place a piece of cardboard or other insulating material in a clothespin to separate the wire so that the bell will not sound when the clothespin is closed.
  8. 8 Glue the clothespin to the tree as shown in the picture.
  9. 9 Attach thread to a piece of cardboard in a clothespin.
  10. 10 Connect the other end of the string to the door. Place the alarm so that the thread is taut. When the door opens, the rope should pull out the cardboard and trigger the alarm.
