1 Decide on the amount of money you plan to donate. The number of flowers will fluctuate depending on the length of the garland and personal preference, but most often it will be around 40-60 flowers. Based on the required amount, you need to determine the number of bills, as well as their denomination. If there are not enough flowers, make them out of plain paper and combine with banknotes.
  • A garland can contain 30 flowers from a hundred-ruble bill and 30 ordinary paper flowers, or 50 flowers from a hundred-ruble bill or even 20 flowers from a two-hundred-ruble bill and 20 paper flowers. The variety and quantity depends only on your desire.
  • 2 Fold one edge of the bill. First, make a collar 1.3 cm wide.Fold the short side of the bill.
  • 3 Make a template. Turn the bill over and fold it 1.3 cm. Then fold it in the opposite direction. Flip the bill over again and fold 1.3 cm in the same direction as you originally did.
    • You will receive a template to be able to fold the bill in an accordion manner.
  • 4 Repeat the steps. Continue folding the 1.3 cm strips in alternating directions until the entire bill is folded. As a result, you should get the shape of an accordion.
  • 5 Wrap a small elastic band around the center of the folded accordion. The elastic will keep the bill folded so you can attach the decorative tape.
  • Part 2 of 3: Attach the money

    1. 1 Attach the folded bill to the kukui nuts or other beaded necklace. Tie the bill to the necklace by wrapping the elastic with a thin ribbon about 15 centimeters long. Tie a bow or any other decorative knot.
      • It will be easier for you to evenly distribute the bills by tying them to the space between the beads. So you can place them across a certain number of beads from each other.
    2. 2 Fan out the tips of the bill. By connecting the opposite ends to each other, you get a circle. Secure the ends with a thin strip of double-sided tape.
    3. 3 Repeat the process with the rest of the bills. Continue stacking additional bills until you have the correct number of flowers attached to the necklace. Spread the money flowers evenly over the entire length of the necklace.

Part 3 of 3: Add Other Decorations

    1. 1 Add paper flowers in between the money. Make paper flowers if you think they aren't enough. If you wish, you can make additional flowers from souvenir bills instead of plain paper.
      • Cut the paper into a rectangle that matches the dimensions of the bill. In this case, you can use paper of one or several different colors.
      • Fold each paper rectangle accordion-like like real bills. Wrap the center with an elastic band in the same way.
      • Attach folded paper to the necklace. In the same way as with real money, use a small piece of ribbon to attach the paper flowers to the necklace. You can add as many paper flowers between the money as you like.
    2. 2 Diversify your homemade garland by adding other decorations. Try tying beautiful silk flowers, candy, or even jewelry, spreading them along the length of the necklace.
    3. 3 Personalize the gift with details specific to the recipient. Use small baby favors, toys, special pendants, seashells, ticket stubs, and anything else that might carry certain memories.
    4. 4 Write or print inspirational notes on slips of paper. Then fold them and attach in the same way as money flowers.

    Tips

    • Use the amount of banknotes and denominations at your discretion, but keep in mind that most of the garlands are never used for their intended purpose.
    • You can use any jewelry for your necklace, be it seashells, wooden beads, or semi-precious stones. Braided rope or thread works just as well, and you can craft it yourself.
    • You can spend a lot of time on the garland. It will be easier to organize the process if you have friends who are willing to help. One person can fold bills, another to bandage with rubber bands, etc.

    Warnings

    • Be careful not to damage or ruin the bills. Although the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation does not explicitly mention the possible punishment for damaging banknotes, we advise you to be careful when folding banknotes and fastening them with rubber bands or ribbons and do not cut or glue them.
