1 Pick up a jar no more than 10 centimeters in diameter. Better that the diameter is between 8-9.5 centimeters. A jar of canned fruit (pineapple or peach wedges) should work. Since we are making a DIRECTIONAL antenna, the length of the can increases the range but decreases the angle of view. This eliminates interference, but requires more accurate antenna pointing. To increase the signal strength, several cans can be soldered so that the total length of the cans is 15 to 25 centimeters.

2 Next, you need to mark the hole for the connector at a distance of one quarter of the length of the can. In the case of a pineapple can, the hole should be made in the third "valley" from the bottom (just after the second "rib"). Solder a bare wire a little over three centimeters long to the N (female) connector. In the process, the plastic parts of the connector may melt, if this happens, correct the situation with electrical tape, the main thing is that a wire 3.07 cm long sticks out of the connector inside the jar.

3 Drill a hole along the markings. Tin breaks easily, so drill slowly and start with a small diameter. Then widen the hole with a file, or reamer with a larger diameter. A powerful drill and a large drill bit will ruin the whole job.

4 Expand the hole to fit the connector.

5 Attach the connector to the jar. Instead of drilling additional holes for the screws, it is better to take a one-centimeter piece of hose, put it on the connector and fix it in the hole.

6 Connect the cable from your wi-fi adapter to the antenna. Unfortunately, such a cable breaks down rather quickly from frequent connections and disconnections, so you can make a system from BNC adapters, such connectors loosen the connector and cable less.

7 Connect the cable to your wi-fi equipment.

8 Install the antenna on a stand, for example with tape or a cable tie.

9 Point the antenna towards the signal source. The reception quality should improve. To increase the signal even more, you can cut the screen out of a metal crate (with holes no more than 6 millimeters), measuring 60 * 30 cm.Fold the screen so that it takes the shape of a parabola, approximately like a satellite dish, and combine it with a canned antenna on one frame (wood or aluminum). Such a system is more difficult to set up and requires special calculations, but it can increase the strength of the reception by two, or even three times. Also, to focus electromagnetic waves, you can use a real satellite antenna, for this, strengthen the can antenna instead of the converter.
