Plastic cards with RFID technology use radio frequency signals to transmit data. Thanks to this, they can be used to pay in cafes, shops and restaurants without swiping the card through the scanner. On the other hand, RFID technology allows thieves to obtain card data simply by scanning a wallet without having to see it. In this guide, you will learn how to save your bank card with RFID.

Steps

Method 1 of 2: Be careful

1. 1 Use your RFID card only at home for online payments. Use other cards outside the home.
2. 2 Store your RFID card in your wallet next to other cards. Thus, it will be difficult for attackers to read a specific card, but this method does not provide guarantees.
3. 3 Examine your card statements for errors or suspicious activity.

Method 2 of 2: Making and Using Protection

1. 1 Store the card in special protection to protect it when not in use.
2. 2 Make foil protection. Cut out two card-sized pieces of cardboard. Wrap each piece in aluminum foil. Place one cardboard in the front of your wallet and the other in the back.
   • You can also wrap each card in foil. Foil prevents cards from being scanned.
3. 3 Protect the coffee bag. An unwanted coffee bag can be turned into card protection.
   • Trim the entrance to the package. Wash and dry it.
   • Crop it to fit your wallet. If you can do this on the fold line, you will get a nice place for the cards, but this is not necessary.
   • Place a piece of foil on each side of the card.
4. 4 Buy an infrared blocking wallet if you don't want to fiddle with securing each card.
   • These wallets are approved by official institutions. There should be a mark or stamp on the surface of the wallet stating that the wallet is approved.

Tips

• Check if your bank sent you an RFID card automatically in case you have one and you don't know about it. If you do not want to use an RFID card, please inform the bank.
