This article shows you how to draw cartoon characters.

Steps

Method 1 of 4: Method One: Cartoon Boy

1. 1 Draw a horizontal oval for the hair.
2. 2 Add another smaller oval intersecting with it for the face.
3. 3 Add a vertical ear oval.
4. 4 Draw a small cylinder at the base of the lower oval.
5. 5 Draw two slightly downward sloping lines from the base of the cylinder, and connect the ends with a dash.
6. 6 Draw a rectangle with the upper side of the line you made in the previous step. This will be the body.
7. 7 Draw a rectangle of the shorts at the bottom.
8. 8 Draw jagged rectangles of sleeves over the body.
9. 9 Add rectangles for the legs.

12. 12 Draw two ovals some distance from the outlines of the legs. These will be the toes of the boots.

14. 14 Go back to the face and draw the ovals for the eyes and the line for the mouth.

Method 2 of 4: Method Two: South Park Style

1. 1 Draw an oval for the head.
2. 2 Under it, draw a rectangle for the body without the top side.
3. 3 Add a horizontal rectangle for the skirt at the bottom.
4. 4 For the arms, draw two parallel lines on both sides.
5. 5 At the ends of the lines, draw ovals for the palms.
6. 6 Draw horizontal ovals some distance from the bottom edge of the skirt.
7. 7 Go back to the face and draw two vertical ovals for the eyes.
8. 8 Draw a trapezoid of the mouth just under the eyes.
9. 9 Draw small eyebrow lines above the eyes and the outline of a bow at the neck in the form of an upside down 'M' and two lines extending from it.
10. 10 Draw in the details of the drawing.
11. 11 Erase all unnecessary lines.
12. 12 Color the character.

Method 3 of 4: Method Three: The Characteristic Cartoon Girl

1. 1 Draw a circle and an oval for the head and body, respectively. In cartoons, imbalances are often used, so it's okay if the head is somewhat large.
2. 2 Then sketch out the pose of the character using lines and circles. In the example given, the girl is planned to hold a book while standing.
