1 Check mirrors to make sure no one is around. Start slowing down slowly, especially if you are driving at high speeds.Part 2 of 3: Turning Perpendicular
- 1 Turn on the left turn indicator. It will show that you are planning to turn left.
- 2 Take your foot off the brake pedal. In the meantime, start turning the steering wheel counterclockwise for a left turn. Slowly press down on the gas pedal.
- 3 Follow the width of the road. You need to continue to turn left and slowly press on the gas until you find yourself 15 cm from the sidewalk on the left side of the road.
- 4 Come to a complete stop by applying the brake. The car will be perpendicular to the lanes.
Part 3 of 3: The End of the Turn
- 1 Turn on the right turn indicator. Look both ways for vehicles. You should always be extremely careful with respect to passenger cars driving in any direction.
- 2 Engage reverse gear.
- 3 Start turning the steering wheel clockwise. Slowly release your foot from the brake when you turn the wheel all the way to the right.
- 4 Slowly press the gas pedal. The car will travel backward, moving into the right lane, opposite to the direction you started from.
- 5 Stop as soon as your vehicle turns around near the sidewalk. Prepare to start driving and slowly step on the gas pedal. You can accelerate to the permitted speed.
Tips
- Exercise until you can safely and fairly quickly make a three-step U-turn. Sometimes you need to make a U-turn rather quickly to avoid oncoming traffic.
