This article will show you how to print photos, documents, emails, and more from iPhone. This can be done wirelessly if you have an AirPrint printer, or using a printing application to connect to any printer.

Steps

Method 1 of 2: Wireless Printing

1. 1 Make sure your printer is equipped with AirPrint. A list of printers with this feature can be found here. You can only print a file from an iPhone wirelessly with such a printer.
   • The printer and phone must be connected to the same wireless network.
   • If you do not have an AirPrint printer, use an AirPrint network printer, such as at school or work.
   • The printer may need to be set up first to use wireless printing. This process varies by printer model, so check your printer manual to find out how to set it up.
2. 2 Launch an iPhone app that supports AirPrint. These applications are most of Apple's applications, including Mail, Safari, and Photos. You can print emails, documents and photos from your phone.
   • For example, launch the Photos app if you want to print photos.
3. 3 Open the item you want to print. For example, to print a photo, tap it.
4. 4 Click Share. This square icon with an upward-pointing arrow is in one corner of the screen.
   • For example, in the Photos app, the Share icon is in the lower-left corner of the screen, while in the Notes app, it is in the upper-right corner of the screen.
   • To print the email, tap the left arrow icon at the bottom of the screen (to the right of the trash can icon).
5. 5 Click Print. It's on the bottom line of options on the Share pop-up menu. Depending on the item you want to print, you may have to scroll the options bar to the left to find the Print option.
   • To print the email, simply click Print at the bottom of the pop-up menu.
6. 6 Click Printer. It's near the top of the screen. iPhone will start searching for printers connected to the wireless network; as soon as the smartphone detects an AirPrint printer, its name appears in the menu.
   • You can also press - or + under the Printer option to decrease or increase the number of copies you want to print, or touch specific pages (multi-page document) to select or deselect them.
7. 7 Click on the name of your printer. It will appear on the screen after a while.
8. 8 Click Print. It's in the upper right corner of the screen. The selected item (s) will be printed on the printer.

Method 2 of 2: Printing Applications

1. 1 Open the App Store. Click on the icon that looks like a white letter "A" made up of writing utensils on a blue background. This icon is on the iPhone home screen.
2. 2 Click Search. It's in the lower-right corner and marked with a magnifying glass icon.
3. 3 Tap the search bar. It's at the top of the screen.
4. 4 Find a printing app. To do this, enter "printer application" in the search bar and then click Find, or search for one of the following special applications:
   • Printer Pro: this app costs 529 rubles, but there is also a free cut-down version; works with most printers and has a desktop version to sync with the mobile app and be able to print more documents from the iPhone.
   • Brother iPrint & Scan is a free application that works with many different printers.
   • HP All-in-One Printer Remote is a free app that works with HP printers released in 2010 and later.
   • Canon PRINT Inkjet / SELPHY is a free application that only works with Canon printers.
5. 5 Click Download to the right of the selected application. If you buy an app, a price button will appear instead of this button.
6. 6 Click Install. This button will appear instead of the Download button.
7. 7 Enter your Apple ID password. The installation of the application will begin.
   • If you've recently opened the App Store, you can skip this step.
   • If your iPhone has a Touch ID sensor, tap it.
8. 8 Launch your printing application and follow the instructions on the screen. This process depends on the application loaded and your printer, but in most cases you will need to confirm that the printer is connected to the network, add the printer to the printing application, and set some options (for example, black and white or color printing).
9. 9 Open the item you want to print. For example, to print a photo, tap it.
10. 10 Click Share. This square icon with an upward-pointing arrow is in one corner of the screen.
11. 11 Swipe left on the options bar at the bottom of the screen. This line should have options such as "Copy" and "Print".
12. 12 Click.... This icon is on the right side of the bottom line of options. A list of applications that can be used with the selected option will open.
13. 13 Move the slider next to the required application to the "Enable" position (to the right). Now it can be used with the current application (for example, "Photos").
    • If the application you want is not listed, open the document or file in that application.
    • The selected application may not support the location or type of file you want to print (for example, Notes is not supported by some printing applications).
14. 14 Click Done. It's in the upper right corner of the screen.
15. 15 Tap the name of the app. You will find it on the bottom bar of the applications. The application will launch.
16. 16 Follow the instructions on the screen. In most cases, you just need to specify some parameters (for example, the number of pages) and then click “Print”. If the printer is turned on and connected to the Internet, the document will be printed.

Tips

• If iPhone does not recognize the printer, connect both devices using the USB to Lightning adapter. Connect the small plug of the adapter to the iPhone charging port (at the bottom of the phone), and then connect the USB cable to the printer and to the adapter.

Warnings

• Some printers do not support iPhone printing because they are outdated or their software is not compatible with iOS. In this case, replace your printer with an AirPrint printer.
