In Christian beliefs, worship is an important part of religion. Each sect has its own distinctive ways of doing this, but this article describes how communion is conducted in Catholic churches.

Steps

  1. 1 Become a Catholic. Baptized children do this in Sunday schools, but if you are already an adult, you will attend a group session called ADC (Rite of Adoption to Christianity for Adults), go through the process of consent, first communion, and confirmation of conversion to the Catholic faith.
  2. 2 Make sure you are welcome at church. Each church has its own invitation ritual. You must be invited before you accept the religion.
  3. 3 Partake in a state of spiritual grace. The sacrament cannot be received if a person has a mortal sin in his soul. If you have committed a sin, you must repent and then take communion.
  4. 4 Attend meetings. Prepare yourself mentally to partake of the sacrament (when the spirit changes into the blood and body of Christ).
  5. 5 Approach the altar when the priests are conducting the service. Wait for your row's turn. When you step away from the bench, there is no need to kneel down. Wait in line and don't miss people. During this time, you must prepare yourself for devotion.
  6. 6 Receive bread. Eat it when you put it on your tongue or in your hands. During the Traditional Rite, you are fed bread, not placed in your hands. Close your mouth and let the bread dissolve on your tongue, at this moment think of the sacrifice made.
    • If you want bread to be placed in your hands, stretch out both hands, put one on top of the other. Although, in the Traditional Rites it is forbidden.
    • If you want to eat bread, open your mouth and stretch your tongue out so that the bread does not fall off. This method is in accordance with the form of these traditions and is still the "usual" (which means not "extraordinary", not forbidden, but not encouraged) form.
    • When you receive the Body of Christ, the priest will say "Body of Christ" and you must answer "Amen."
  7. 7 Choose whether to have a drink from the cup or not if you are participating in the New Order. If a priest or chief invites you to drink the Blood of Christ for partaking of the sacrament, you must also answer "Amen" before receiving His Blood.
  8. 8 If you are attending a Byzantine rite church, walk up to the tetrapod (a small table near the priest), bless yourself, and cross your arms. Tilt your head back and open your mouth. The priest / deacon will take a spoon to place the sacrament in your mouth (don't be afraid of contamination, everything will be done neatly, the spoon won't touch your tongue). The priest will pray in your place; Do not answer.
  9. 9 Return to your seat and kneel. It's time to reflect. Return to your seat and pray until the priest finishes the Mysterious Annunciation sentence.
  10. 10 In the Byzantine rite, no one kneels. Do like everyone else.

Tips

  • If you want the bread to be handed to you, place your left hand on top of your right. In the Catholic faith, the left hand is considered "clean".
  • If you fiddle with your hands while receiving the Sacrament, clean them up while you wait in line.
  • In the Byzantine rite, there are local changes about whether the priest / deacon / assistant will put something under your tongue if something suddenly goes wrong.

Warnings

  • Some Catholic schools have different traditions for receiving the Sacrament. For some people, especially elderly parishioners, I consider it disrespectful to chew bread. In order not to offend other people in the service, it is best to study the traditions of a particular church.
