This article will show you how to check the baud rate of a RAM chip on a Windows or Mac computer.

Steps

Method 1 of 2: On Windows

1. 1 Open Start. Click on the Windows icon in the lower left corner of your screen to open the Start menu.
2. 2 Enter cmd in the Start menu search box to search all programs and display a list of results. The command line will appear at the top of the search results.
   • If there is no search bar on the Start menu, just start typing on your keyboard. In some versions of Windows, you can simply open the Start menu and start typing a keyword without clicking on the search bar.
3. 3 Press Command line at the very top of the search results. Click on it to display the Command Prompt window.
4. 4 Enter wmic memorychip get speed. This command allows you to check the speed of the RAM chip in the Command Prompt window.
5. 5 Click on ↵ Enter on keyboard. After executing the command, the speed of each RAM chip will appear in the command prompt window.

Method 2 of 2: On a Mac

1. 1 Open the Utilities folder. This folder is located inside the Applications folder. It can also be found by clicking on the magnifying glass icon in the upper right corner of the window and searching in Spotlight.
2. 2 Double click on System information. The program icon is located in the Utilities folder and looks like a computer chip. Double click on this icon to open the application in a new window.
3. 3 Press Memory in the panel on the left. Find and open the Memory tab in the navigation pane on the left side of the System Information window. This tab will display detailed information about each RAM chip that is installed on the computer.
4. 4 Check the speed of each chip in the Memory Slot table. This table lists all RAM chips installed on the computer, their speed, size, type and status.
